here are my pc specs: Dell Dimension XPS Gen 2: P4 3.0ghz w/800mhz/ht technology, 1024 mb @400mhz memory, ATI 128 mb 9800 pro graphics card, 19"Acer widescreen. i understand that i have a agp card.i am wanting to upgrade to a ATI x1950 pro 512mb. which is better for my pc, an agp or pci? also, would this be too much for my pc?
Definitely an AGP card.. PCI cards are outdated and terrible.. limited by the low bandwidth offered by the slot itself.
The X1950Pro would be a nice upgrade, maybe bump down to the X1950GT. It's like $160 on Newegg.

Oh yea its AGP crap the XT AGP is like 270$ :P well the X1950GT is still great tho I dont know ATi's motive for making it tho its like a weaker PRO... Then again Nvidia did the same with there 6k series the 6800XT kinda sucked lol I think its just ATi's way of saying hey dont use our XT thats our way of saying its good :P
Don't go for a 512MB version, it's not worth it for a 19" monitor. The 256MB version will be more than enough, although as previously suggested, if you can save a bit of money and get the X1950GT, do so.
