Ok... So I watched a video review for Aion on youtube... The reviewer mentioned the payment method for Aion being different than other MMOs, in that you pay for hours and not monthly...

Is this true? I asked this on another forum and people were telling me that it is monthly...

I ask because I am really interested in trying this game out, I just don't like the monthly payment of MMOs because I play spiratically and I can go from playing every day for a week to not play it again for 4 weeks... So buying hours instead of months seems like a good thing for me because the reviewer said that you buy the time, and it stays there until you use it...

So any responses will be much appreciated... Thanks!

No, that payment system does not apply to the western version. To play on NA/EU servers you have to pay a flat $15/month fee.

Yes, but not everyone likes having a monthly subscription to something, I wish that it was like in WoW. You can buy a prepaid card for 30-180 days.

I am pretty sure the NCSoft prepaid cards work with Aion so you dont have to get a subscription.

Yeah but I don't play a lot... I don't want to pay $15 to play that month and only get on once which is what I do with a lot of games...

You know, if you really want to jump through some hoops, you can play the Chinese version and use their payment method. Unless you happened to be fluent in Chinese (which, since you made this thread, you obviously aren't), you wouldn't be able to communicate with a lot of the players of course...

As far as I know, in that version, you don't even have to pay for the game, just the game time, so I don't think you'd have anything to lose by trying to create an account.

Is that the same as the released US version? Like does it have voiceovers and everything?

Well the link he provided said it was the Chinese version in English... I just wanted to know if it was English voiceovers or Chinese with English subtitles...?

Part of the instructions contained a method of changing the text. (I can't vouch for the safety of that executable file, but everyone else that posted on that page seemed to be fine with it.) I don't think it changes all of the text though. Now that the English version is actually out, there probably should be some way to replace all of it. I don't know the details though; I have no interest in doing it myself. It's probably more trouble than it's worth, especially since, like I said, you won't be able to communicate with most players, which kind of defeats a lof the idea of a MMORPG.

Just pay for it. It's the most polished MMO i've seen since World of Warcraft. The only bad thing is the waiting times, but by the time you get the game they'll have fixed it already. Although the waiting times seem to have a plus side to them aswell, the new server in which I'm currently in is one of the most pleasant servers I've ever been in.

It costs me over 20 dollars at the movie theater after my wife and I get tickets, popcorn, a drink and whatever else. That's like 1.5 hours worth of entertainmnet.

And $15 a month on an MMO gives you around 720hrs of entertainment. Of course you are not gonna play 24/7, but that's what it is offering for a mere $15....so in comparison, it's cheap.

What the hell are you talking about? I said the OP obviously isn't fluent in Chinese. Are you the OP? No. Are you trying to tell me the majority of Chinese players can speak fluent English? I don't think so. Go get inexplicably offended by obvious facts or try to show off or whatever you are doing somewhere else, pal. Most people are not fluent in multiple languages...
