Have you looked at the Gateway laptops? They're pretty good for their price. I'm not sure how much an Alienware laptop with a similar set up is, but I think you should check this one out at least. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834101166teh_VUThanks but that laptop is worse and actually costs more.
i think it looks like a nice laptop! but i would prefer a desktop :DuBpSundayDriverI would to but I don't have enough plug ins for my room :P. So laptop will work just fine. And this will be able to play games like GoW, and WaW. As far as I know.
Im not a alienware hater. Alienware makes the top of the line laptops for gaming. But laptops are not that grea for gaming in general. So heres my statmet. If you already have a gaming pc then go ahead and get a alienware labtop. If you dont have a gaming pc and you really want to be a hardcore gamer go make not buy yourself a pc. If you just play some cod4 and world of warcarft and stuff like that get a alienware laptop. but if your crysis hungry your not going to et it from any alienware products unless you spend like 2000 dollors and thats a little overpriced.Mike0698The "Family" computer can play games like Crysis on highest settings just fine. So this is more for me just to play some games on my own without bothering anyone. Plus I won't be Crysis hungry I hated the game :P. This is just to play some WaW or CoD4. This will mainly be used for lan games with a family member. Due to the fact that I own a PS3.

Ya we built it both for multitasking and gaming. It was a beast at the time. It's older now.Im not a alienware hater. Alienware makes the top of the line laptops for gaming. It's not 2003 anymore. Laptops are becoming pretty good for gaming. Mobile video cards and CPUs are much faster now and capable of gaming. I have an M15x and it runs any game I throw at it (except crysis of course) maxed at 1440x900. Crysis can run on high at 1440x900 at about 23FPS. If you have the money and would like to game on the go, then go for it. Keep in mind that the battery life won't be that great when running on external graphics. Thankfully, you can switch between integrated and external graphics on alienware laptops now. I only get ~1 hour of battery on external graphics, but almost 3 hours on integrated.
Once upon time back in 2004, I bought an alienware laptop with 3ghz, 1gig RAM, ATI 9600 128mb card, etc etc for $4,000+. One year after buying, and just shortly after the warranty ran out, I started to have extreme overheating problems. Alienware offered me no help. 3 months later, I couldn't play any game for more than 20 minutes, before the laptop got so hot it would auto shutdown. A chill pad didn't work and it got to the point where I need to prop up the back and use a considerable size desk fan to blow enough air into the intakes just so I could play a game. I kept this computer clean as could be too. It turned out there was a defect and hundreds of others experienced the same problem.
So after $4,000+ and only a year of "decent" usability (still had other problems throughout that first year) it became the most expensive paper weight I have ever owned.
In short: do not buy from alienware. Granted they might have changed over the past 4 - 5 years but you can get an equal/better system for cheaper and better customer service elsewhere.
That hd 3870 is a garbage gpuGamerkat
No it's not. Plus, crossfire two of them and it's pretty damn good.
Just remember that with laptops you will have to spend roughly 2.5 times the money to get the performance of an equivilant desktop. That being said, ask yourself if you really need a laptop for gaming. You can build a great desktop for a fraction of the money an alienware will cost you with enough level over for a laptop that does most everything but gaming.stele29Agreed
