It does look very interesting - It looks like it's quite an intelligent game with shootiness if you want it.

Although I think I'll wait for the reviews to come out first before I do get it - the idea could be so "out there" that it goes badly wrong. I hope not, though!

Got a strange feeling towards it.

When I got Condemned: Criminal Origins I was hoping it would be something similar to the movie Seven, but it turned out to be closer to Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Similarly when I look at Alpha Protocol, I'm hoping it is something like Bourne Identity, but I'm expecting XXX. Probably better having low expectations though.

I thought it looked really good when it was announced (Mass Effect with spys?), I had it preorder on steam for like a year now (delays ftw). So hopefully come June 1st the game will be great.

Very excited here, i just hope osbidian does not mess up something along the way.

I kinda see what you mean, i excpect a very good story that will start a spy espionage trilogy, but i guess thats hype and it will be just a game with much lower quality. Thats what i think, there are also other people who expect it to be like mass effect, or not at all. So i guess in the end you never know what to expect, everyone sees things diffirent. For exmample condmned reminded me of SAW for some reason :P

I've never played Deus Ex, and I've not read alot into Alpha Protocol, but from what I can tell it seems kind of similar to Deus Ex? Would I be right in saying that?

At any rate I'm fairly interested in the game.

im a big stealth fan and since we haven't exactly been inundated with stealth based games i have real high hopes for it, especially taking into account the devs. but tbh, as far as games go, all i can think and care about atm is getting red dead redemption on friday. if it wasnt for that ap would likely be top of my priority list

meh it wont be like deus ex. Deus ex is a fps with many rpg mecahnics on a future world. Alpha protocol is a modern world third person shooter with dialogues that change the story and splinter cell gadgets and meele moves and passive abillities. Deus ex was mosty about upgrading your abilitis so you can shoot and lockpick more effectively.

I do, the idea of the game is good, how the developers will invest on this idea is up to them. I hope it won't end up like any other casual score 7 game which had a great idea but didn't used it's full potential

Mostly i worry about the fact that it does not look visually impresive in terms of graphics which oftens results in lower scores.

I know I am, I've been itching for a good rpg with a lot of choices and variabilities. I'm hoping that I there are a lot of ways to get finish a mission for example I can sweet talk my way in, or infiltrate in or go guns blazing. I truly hope that I doesn't end up as an action spy game where all everything ends up as a one man army scenario. But its Obsidian anything can happen with them.

The game does have a rather dated look to it... I think I'll buy this when it hits the bargain bin.

Don't let the dated graphics fool you.... their games have always used simple graphics. It's the gameplay/story/dialogue it's strong point...

If it's anything like they claimed, I'd definitely play through this game at least three times. One stealthy play-through; one conversational play-through; and one kill-them-all play-through.

Obsidian has alot of good people under their roof, so I'm looking forward to it. Being an action RPG has me a little iffy but I'm hoping for a strong story and good dialogue.

Its one of the games I am looking forward to, I just hope its well optimized, so many games lately could have been really great these past couple years if they took the time to optimize them just a little bit more. (alot of them seem rushed honestly) and I hope this isn't one of them.

The premise looks like fun, a variation on gameplay on the pc for me, I hope it turns out to be great. It doesn't have to look like the best graphically looking game by any means, just that it performs well, and has excellent immersion. Im excited, and hopeful.

really? because from what ive seen it seems like some RPG adventure where the dude travels to different locations around the world. unless its a open world set in each of the locations they had on the trailer.

osbidian are good at piggybacking off other companies IPs... Im not sure how well their own IP will be... at least I know they can make good games. Im quite optimisitic about it.

Yes, very much so, mostly because it's Obsidian and none of their games have let me down.

I will probably buy it next week when it's released. That'll be my first game I've bought full price since... uhh, Fallout 3 I think?

I'd pre-order it now if I had the cash to spare. It looks fun, it's got a great team behind it, and we've been lacking deep/interesting RPGs for a few years now, so I'm definitely looking forward to it.

No and no. I guess the best comparison would be to something like Deus Ex (multi-linear RPG with non-linear missions?) or Vampire Bloodlines.

I guess you can probably play it like you play Assassin's Creed, but...I don't think that's the best comparison.

it is not cell shaded or anything like that. It looks more realistic, more along the lines of other UE3 games.

Well Obsidian took its time with this game. They're a good team but they always get rushed which leads to a load of bugs in their games. I'm hoping it wont be the same case with this one. And no amount of draconian DRM will stop me from getting this game.

Luckily the DRM they chose it not as draconian as some. There is no constant online or install limits I am aware of. As for bugs this game was supposed to come out last fall but was pushed back to this June so hopefully they used that time to iron out any bugs.

Yes, and both counts are good moves. I really hope the gameplay won't suck. But I have little doubt that the storyline will deliver, it is Obsidian after all.

For some reason this game reminds me a lot of Mass Effect, probably because they share a lot of RPG/TPS elements.
