I dont mind.. so many heavy hitters releasing again this fall. It'll probably be better business for them in the end
yes but Alpha protocol was the RPG game I wanna Buy now its gone can you give me another games (except Dragon Age)I dont mind.. so many heavy hitters releasing again this fall. It'll probably be better business for them in the end

Dark_prince123
Well, nah.. Dragon Age is my main RPG substitute. What about Risen? That comes out in a week or so.
I agree with you though, AP was the main game of the fall for me.. it is disappointing, but from what I've learned of Obsidian, they need all the time in the world to quash bugs. I didn't bother finishing NWN2 with all the crap I had to deal with.
More time for polishing. Obsidian needs that time, as everyone seems to believe that Obsidian can't make a technically good game.
Obsidian has just dropped a few more notches in my book. i don't see why something that's been in development for what? 4 years? need another half a year to fix bugs or avoid clashing with other big hitters. they must have realised what's all too apparent in the released footages - that they have a substandard crap at hands and they are desperately trying to salvage the situation by overhauling the content.
i was sorta hoping that miracle would happen, that somehow Obsidian has left the best stuff for the last. looks like i was just kidding myself. sorry Obsidian, if you can't handle the real deal then i'm not spending my hard-earned money on your things. good luck in the future.

Phoenix534
they can't. AP has been in development for years, was originally set to be released - oops - half a year ago. kid yourself not - they have had their time but it looks like they just can't handle it after all.
Yeah i guess its a good thing, i was amazed it would come out so soon, anyway this whole thing reminds me that dragon age was delayed too. All that time they were developing mass effect, and i can honestly say that i wouldnt mind less polish and more content and the game to come out earlier, if thats the case then id like Alpha Protocol to come out earlier. This might be a good thing so that the developers can fully pollish the game

would YOU push it back for SIX freaking months for simple marketing reasons?
no, stop kidding yourself. Obsidian bombed on this one. and lol, so soon? i'm wordless. it's been in development for at least 3 years ( one of the dev said it in an interview on IGN, iirc ) and this is already its second delay.
Sidenote - Obsidian didn't make Mass effect. Bioware did.

That was random.... ...i didnt say anything about bioware, bioware is too busy with mass effect 2 and dragon age origings, it amazes me how fast they working on mass effect 2 while mass effect took ages :D Anyway what you mean Obsidian bombed on this one?[QUOTE="Fuzzman38"]Yeah i guess its a good thing, i was amazed it would come out so soon, anyway this whole thing reminds me that dragon age was delayed too. originally the game was meant to be released in Q3 2008 then slips to March 2009 then to October 2009 no to june 2010 . its being anothor conviction. the game will be awesome I Know but enough i want to play the damn game I cant wait till june and in 2010 there will be Blockbuster games include new vegas ( as bethesda the puplisher it won't be delayed any second) who said that ME was maid by Obsidian . Question : Who has the righs of the game Sega or Obsidian ?If they are pushing back to avoid the tight market of coming Q4(sept - dec), and push it to next june, is this really the right choice?
I mean, Mass effect was released in may 2008 for pc, and what if it gets released in may 2010, along with fallout new vegas and other popular game that might be on it, then, will they push it another 6 months from that point as well? so they can avoid the big titles?
Bioware took along of unnesacary time with mass effect, and at the end on the x360 it was still buggy and it lacked content, so osbidian instead of taking the release date forever they delay their games, i cant really say that it is any diffirent that mass effect but instead of setting a long term release date they did their mistake and set a pretty short one, i was couldnt belive they gonna release so soon, now i know why. Id rather that they take their time that release their game like anyother developer at an average state, just like valve says "its done when its done" So personally i dont mind as long as the game turns out ok.Obsidian has just dropped a few more notches in my book. i don't see why something that's been in development for what? 4 years? need another half a year to fix bugs or avoid clashing with other big hitters. they must have realised what's all too apparent in the released footages - that they have a substandard crap at hands and they are desperately trying to salvage the situation by overhauling the content.

Has this been confirmed, or is it just a rumour?
Anyway, if it's true, another six months? That does sound like a long delay, and it can't really be to miss the Christmas 'crush' because damn near every other game I was looking forward to has been delayed until next year as well. I was looking forward to Alpha Protocol a LOT more than any other RPG this year.
No, I have to agree that a six month delay means the game wasn't near being finished, or there are quality issues that need some serious attention.
So it looks like I won't be getting an RPG this Christmas after all. Not going to buy Risen until they've sorted out all the bugs (and there are bound to be bugs, because every Gothic game had them). Divinity 2 might be good, from the feedback I've read, but it wasn't a priority for me. So that leaves Dragon Age, and I'm less than impressed with what I've seen of that game so far (and they've shown nearly half the game in all the damned trailers they keep releasing). Besides, I'm getting rather tired of the same rehashed fantasy settings for RPG games as it is.
Alpha Protocol looked like a breath of fresh air, so yeah, I guess I'm pretty disappointed by this news.

i'm afraid i don't understand what you mean by "pretty short one" and "so soon". as i said, it's been in development for 3 years now - 4, if it's really delayed to summer 2010.
Wow, they left it to the last minute before they pulled this out of the hat. Disappointing.Artekus
Was looking forward to this. Oh well, plenty of games coming out this holiday season, my bank account certainly won't mind the delay.

You guys do like it was cancelled...
I wonder what happened to those people who preordered from steam that promised the oct released? as far as i know steam doesnt refund.
chapman86
Well they've got Space Siege for free
And what is this about delay = crap? Crysis, Stalker, Bioshock, The Witcher and countless other games were delayed even more.
i pre ordered it from steam and on there it still says october realease so i wonder what will happen. and the reason why mass effect took so long to make but not mass effect 2 is probably because they already have the engine made.
im disapointed and kinda happy it was delayed. alot of games realease with alot of bugs.
i can name a few, operation flashpoint, arma 1 and 2. they were almost unplayable on realease.
What's with all of the hate towards Obsidian? They're a fantastic developer that deserves a little more respect. And to the people talking bad about the game and Obsidian because of the delay, what about all of the fantastic games that have been delayed before?

Its not that Obsidian is bad, Their games are great, Fantastic Writers and Idea's, But their Lack of commitment to Polish their games as of the last few releases I think is finally starting to catch up to them. Their games are so buggy and unoptimized game testers alone should be putting stops to releases but instead they charge right through them and release their products anyway.
I have no problem with them, They make great games, but they need to put more effort into polish. They never have with their titles. All they do is write the story, buy an engine, write the code and barely test it and hope it works out. And while it does, NWN 2 was a TERRIBLE experience to play if you played through it in its first few months of release without the patches.
IMO I have no doubt the Final Build Copy went out to Sega for Testing and failed outright with a major game breaking bug. There is no other reason to Delay the title 8+ Months unless something BAD happened. People who think its because of release competition are fools. If the game was that finished they could have easily released it during this years summer drought where we had NOTHING to play. 2010's Release list is far more complex than this years with competition all year around.
Obsidian screwed up big time. That much I am certain of. Now your looking at New Vegas and AP releasing at the sametime? I don't think so, Obsidian isn't THAT big. Expect major delays for New Vegas.

Wasnt there fault they told people it needed more time in developement..Some one pushed them into releasing nwn2 to early..They at least cleaned up the mess later on..Heck mad doc didnt even clean up there mess with star trek...They just left us hanging..At least they took time out an patched it up...Thats what gets me why people are so down on them..If they need time to fix bugs im all for it..Ive got risen next week to get me buy till my other games get shipped..Cant believe also some people are bashing dragon age..Its a rpg, i love it, why people are dissing the game is beyond me..Oh the graphics dont look great on it..Hell ill take the 120 hours its got in the game over graphics any day..
i think that anyone who pre ordered it on steam should get a refund in 49.99$ of store credit. since thats how much it costs
June of next year?
No way is Obsidian 'quashing bugs'. They're re-working the game. You don't spend 10 months de-bugging software.

I am actually happy at this news. It gives me more time for me to save money and for them to make the game better. Win win in theory.
Well -
No Dragon Age - the more I see what they've done with it, the more I don't want it.
No Mass Effect 2 - If the game is anything like the "new" characters - well . . that just sucks, and my interest level has dropped to zero.
No Alpha Protocol - delayed
Risen - ? I don't know enough about it, but it looks interesting
Luckily, I have NWN2, Drakensang, and Bioshock to finish, so I'm good for a while
