I cant believe it...I just got it, and I feel extremely dissapointed with the graphics! I cant believe this is maxed, its not even close to the screenshots...

I have DX11 enabled, with all its effect, DOF on High, shadows on soft (I assumed this was the "high" since the other option was "normal" the AA on MLAA (again I assumed it was the best since it was the last one) the SBAO (or whatever) on high and the filters on anisotropic 16x

well I put every option on "max" every option, at 1920x1080

and this is what I get?!

and this are the screenshots...

So far I have not noticed any DX11 effects...and the faces in this game...gosh...they are at the level of doom 3 faces.

dont say "OH MAYBE YOU CANT MAX THE GAME? WHAT ARE YOUR SPECS?!" yes I can obviously max this game and my specs are on my sig so avoid asking that question please.

Yeah mate you're probably maxed. Yeah I know the game isn't the most beautiful graphicly (tech side) there is. The models and cut scenes I was disapointed with mostly. But it's a very good game after all. The DX11 effects are implemented mostly on some objects like those yellow paint jars, and as I recal not for models and other stuff. You can google it to find some pics for comparison.

If you bought Deus Ex HR because you wanted to see some gorgeous graphics, then you bought it for the wrong reasons.

Boris Vorontsov is working on a enb mod for it right now:

The framerate is this bad because of a shadow bug which has been fixed in a newer version according to Boris.

Exactly. Deus Ex:HR may not have the most up to date graphics, but it's the meat of the game that most people purchased it for. Good story, unique experience, great game

Set your Field of view to 95, it looks so much nicer with everything else set to max.

The graphics aren't very impressive, but that isn't a big deal. The story is awesome.

The IGN screenshots you posted are pretty much exactly what you see in those areas. They're not different from the quality in your screens either, so I don't know why you feel otherwise. Also, the DX11 effects are just improved DOF and tessellation on the character models which is meant to improve silhouettes. Anyway, Deus Ex has never been known for graphics. The first game had bad graphics when it was released and so does DXHR. Luckily the art styIe and sheer amount of detail in DXHR makes up for the bad graphics, although it's a very unoptimized game.

the visuals are fine. No, they are not cutting edge, and yes, the facial animations are a subpar, but overall the graphics engine suits the game just fine.

Very true... I have not really played it that much but some of the videos I've seen leave a lot to be desired. For example the officer you talk to at the entrance of the police station. (not the one sitting down, the other in front). That face graphic shouldn't be happening with today's standards.

why do people assume that you hate a game just because you say "the graphics dissapoint me"?

Graphics look fine to me, but it better perform great at those graphics, there is no reason it shouldn't at that level of graphics, it should run fine!

And it does, at least on my PC, constant 60 frames, no drops. but I think its demanding on the GPU, simply because its in directx11

The graphics arent exactly cutting edge but the actual game is fantastic and more than makes up for it. One of the best games this year so far IMO..

When I was trying to increase FPS in eyefinity I found that disabling DX11 only netted me a 10 FPS improvement. I say "only" because the game was still only running at about 45 FPS. I eventually ended up just using a single monitor so I could have everything maxed out and get 60 FPS with vsync. That and the game has some bad distortion in the side monitors that made playing in eyefinity somewhat nauseating.

Try the different AA effects. MLAA made it look terrible for me until I switched it to FXAA High. Judging from your first screenshot, I'd say that's your problem; of course, it's entirely possible that I don't know what I'm talking about. That may not work on ATI cards. Other than that, yes, some of the game looks poor graphically. Especially the character animations in cuscenes.

Here's what that same area looks like for me.

Low quality steam screenshots really do it no justice though, I thought it looked quite good in motion. Never stopped and thought "man, these graphics just aren't cutting it" or anything like that.

I honestly think we're at a point in time in which graphics no longer matter. Everything looks good enough to be playable, fun and immersive. It's not like early 3d stuff when you had to use a generious serving of suspension of disbelief. Sure some games look better than other, but I never launch a game to stare at graphics - it's more a means to an end.

Um were you expecting a great looking game? Anyways change your AA to msaa or something, mlaa makes the whole screen a little blurry.

The modder who did the ENB series of mods for GTA IV is supposedly working on a mod for this game already. I might just wait for that to get released before I play it.

that looks...quite nice...I might try it instead of Edge AA.

do you need to restart the game everytime you change the AA?
