Yuk.

I want something that's a big improvement over my 2.8ghz Phenom II X3 720BE with 4th core unlocked and overclocked to 3.2ghz.

interesting.

a few years ago I bought an Athlon II 240 for 60 bucks and those are 2.8GHz. I only see these as being worth while if they are really low wattage or the smaller 32nm process.

A Pentium G620 is $60-65...

This would only be worthwhile if you already have an AM3 motherboard.

Not really sure what they hope to accomplish with these chips.. especially at those prices. Seems like anybody with an AM3 board would already have a CPU better than those.

Seems kinda pointless. I was also already under the impression that most single core Semprons could be unlocked to Athlon II X2s anyway. This sounds like AMD is just re-branding the Athlon II X2s as dual core Semprons.
