Severance: Blade of Darkness!

This game is pure brilliance, it didn't gather much attention back on it's release, due to it not having much marketing, but even today this game is amazing.

It's bascialy a Action/RPG & adventure all in one, there's some features in the game which are even pretty impressive today, for example your final slash on an enemy could take his head off, you can then pick up his head and use it as a weapon, and you can completey take off all their body parts, and launch them around the room.

Theres plenty of bosses, the soundtrack is fantastic and adds to the feeling of the game, and it's just a real shame that not many people got to experience this masterpiece.

So for anyone who's never played it, and likes these kind of games, i really suggest you check it out, you can pick it up on ebay for around £4, and you won't regret it.

And for anyone who's played this before, do you know any games which are similar? i'd love to try them.

Great game with some frustrating parts (Vampire boss in particular). In no way an RPG, though, the game is straight up action. I know I've said it before, but this game would have been great on a gamepad. Also, co-op would have made this game just about perfect.

I remember the game, had great physics for the time. The mobs actually drop what they are carrying, watching a shield drop on it's edge and roll down a hill was cool as hell the first time I saw it. Very cool game.

yeah, now more and more people just throw :RPG: around as if it's not even a distinct genre, but some thing every kind of game can have ("on the side"). IF this is Action/RPG, Devil May Cry 4 is too.

Yeah, definitely not an RPG. You can level up your attack & health but that's it. It's a great game though. I wish the combat in action RPGs/hack 'n slash RPGs would be like Blade of Darkness. This game is true hack n' slash!!

Imagine a bigass action RPG with a huge world, choices that have a real effect on the story, horse riding, & a combat system similar to Blade of Darkness. Throw in some Heinekens on the computer desk and Herrick would be in heaven.

Yeah, i guess it's not really a RPG like baldurs gate II for example, i guess it's more Action/Adventure, but thanks for the suggestion of Rune, i guess i'll check that one out!

The idea about a huge world with combat like Severance would be damn awesome, i don't know why more game's dont use this combat system, it's defintley the most enjoyable for hack n slash rather than just holding down the left mouse button on an enemy, but from what i've seen the combat in rise of the arganouts seem's pretty similar to severance, and you can decipate your foes...who knows it could turn out to be a great game :)

It's been a while since I played Rune but I don't remember the combat being anywhere near as good as the combat in Blade of Darkness.

Im assuming this is the same game I played when I was little, you could choose your character and they all had different starting levels. But once you got passed that all the levels were the same for everyone. Once you beat the game and you go through it again all these pink alien things start to come out of these teleports and rather then killing ogres and **** you kill them.
