Amazon also has Spec Ops The Line and Max Payne 3 lower than Steam atm. And That was before the Steam Sale.
Steam has a trump card though, it's called The Daily Deals, which lower Prices even further.

A bigger trump card is that Steam sells their games to more than one country. Amazon can't really compete until they work that one out.
This. I live in Panama and I use a fake US billing address for buy in Amazon. Thankfully my country uses the US Dollar so I don't know if that will affect people that uses other kind of currencies.Use a US billing address and you can buy from Amazon too. There are no repercussions.

Amazon really knocked it out of the park this summer. They swooped in when Steam was lagging on its sale start date AND offered steam codes for a majority of their games.

SO while Steam may have been lazy, they still get a cut of others sales? Wish I was in Steam's shoes.
There's a reason Gabe is a billionaire and EA wanted a slice of the action.
The cool thing about Steam is they were doing this long before there was competition. GoG, Gamersgate and other digital distribution kinda pushed competition a bit, but not much from what I could tell. Origin tried to do it, failed, then talked crap about Steam for doing it. Now Amazon has picked it up and seem to be doing pretty well so far.
Honestly, I don't know if the prices will go any lower than they already are but I'm glad more companies are starting to realize if done right, their profits go up immensely (and as a nice side effect their customers get insanely cheap games).
I still prefer to use Amazon because they offer retail versions of games. I hate downloading digital copies no matter how cheap they are.

As far as I am aware Steam does not get a cut of anything unless it is purchased from the Steam store. So if you buy a game from Amazon that can be redeamed on Steam then all the money goes to Amazon, none of it goes to Steam.
As others have said "kudos" to Amazon but it is useless to me since I don't live in the US. I also do not feel comfortable with faking a US billing address. So unless Amazon wants to cater for the rest of the planet then Steam will be my goto place for sales.

They're aware of the loophole and don't do anything about it specifically because they want to cater to you in the best way possible. Otherwise they'd have to conform to tax office regulations, which leads to Steam-like retarded pricing for non-US customers.
