It never was...from my personal experience ATI was never a worthy product...
I remember having driver issue with an ATI card back in 2005...what a hassle...arrrgg
Nvidia in the last years had EXCELLENT driver support...
P.S. You can get a gtx 560 TI...or if u have a little more money go for a gtx 570...
Dual GPU always sucks... why do people get mad when the implementation takes a while for it to succeed? I agree that AMD is a little slow (3 days for Rage's driver), but buying a new GPU 'cause there's some shoddy game with poor performance or an implementation that is never focused on 'til well after release (multi-gpu) is just a great way to throw money away. Be patient, and don't have unrealistic expectations, the whole multi-gpu rendering isn't even easy to sync up in the first place.
Yes, ATi/AMD is a hassle if you're impatient, but calm down, and they feel pretty damn equal. Nvidia of course distributes drivers that'll fry your gpu was it the 580 or 590 that had that driver that fried it? No company is perfect.
be prepared for disappointment, nvidia has its own driver issues as wellwhat's the best nvidia card you can get right now or one close that isnt ridiculously expensive cause im done with amd and there trash driver updates and the constant issue with almost every single big title that comes out its not even worth it anymore

Let's just ignore the 580gtx frying fiasco... no company is perfect, nvidia is quicker to get drivers to work, but from a performance standpoint, they're basically equals. Performance(value)/$ should be the primary determining factor.yes and again their equals in price/preformance
i see no reason to not recommend amd alternatives to basically anything on the nvidia end. both suck/preform
and if you want to talk fiasco's.. here ya go sli's gtx 460's STILL cant play APB: reloaded to the tune of the quality garnished from an HD 4870
theres a riot a free game that has nvidia sli's setups falling all over themselves like children XD

tell that to the near-fried GPUs from drivers a while ago, or the disastrous 2007/2008 era of Nvidia and vistayes and again their equals in price/preformance
