LOL. Is this the epitome of sad? Obligatory links:

So to sum it up, AMD pays Globalfoundries to reduce their wafer commitment. In laymens terms: They can't sell enough products and don't want to be obligated to buy excess wafers so they're paying GF for a termination fee.

Paying someone in order to make less products, that is awesome. Just awesome. AMD... the gradually forming black hole slowly imploding within. Will this incompetently run company make it to Q1 2014 at this rate? Stay tuned.

TSMC has 28nm process working while GoFlo's 28 nm process is MIA. AMD needs to move towards Samsung fabs or increase TSMC.

Handcuffing themselves to GF from the start due to some misguided sense of loyalty was a mistake that could be their entire downfall. Oh well, nothing new right? Just another day, and another blunder at AMD.

i this keeps going on they will be sold to a company with much deeper pockets. It wouldn't be good news for intel or nvidia. Im sure Google or Apple would be seriously interested in buying AMD....especially apple.

This is pretty common in manufacturing.
