Hello gamespot ppl! My motherboard just broke today and I've decided to get a new one asap with a new cpu. Just wondering what u guys think off the combination between the cheap Asus M4A785D-M PRO( http://www.asus.se/product.aspx?P_ID=yCI8UenairUZJWET&templete=2 ) and the AMD Phenom II x6 cpu. From what i can tell, the motherboard isnt only am3 socket but also am2.. And the amd X6 cpu only works with the latest bios for this mobo, which would suck if it turned out not being upp to date.

Thanks.

Phenom II X6 is not what you need at this moment. Today's latest games do not harness the power of six cores, so go for the cheaper Phenom X4 965.

Yeah :) I'm getting the 1090t BE with a Crosshair IV formula. Everyone says no games use the cores but what about in 2 years ? Unless your looking to build a new pc every year go for it :) that mobo also supports usb 3.0 and sata 6/gbs :P

Just got that CPU and Motherboard myself two weeks ago :) With a decent cooler it's so easy to get a high stable and cool overclock. I love it :)

Some people do it slightly different. Over 2 years ago I built my pc , last Winter Solstice I upgraded the cpu to a phenom II quad. and I will upgrade my gpu setup once the 6 series launches.

I will build another rig in about 2 years, when there is a new windows, When there will be much better 6-8core processors, when games start to utilize them.

See smarter more efficient upgrades than buying/building new rig every year or two, as well as still getting the best performance ratio.

So... many... SMILIES. As for the GPU, I've been in the same predicament, but others have told me to just wait for the 6xxx series, see what that has to offer, and then buy.

Thats what im doing waiting for the 6k Radeon series just carried the GTX260 216 over from my previous rig.
