amd phenom x4 vs core 2 extreme

MY COUSIN IS PLANNING ON ASSEMBLING A DESKTOP,SO WOULD YOU GUYS SAY WHICH ONE IS BETTER-AMD PHENOMX4 VS CORE 2 EXTREME EDITION

I would get a Phenom II x4 just because games are starting to make better use of quad cores and some games (GTA4) need one to be playable at highest settings. I'm also a big fan of AMD because I feel you get better bang for your buck from them as opposed to Intel. Don't get me wrong Intel is a great company I just thing they charge to much.

A core 2 extreme will beat a phenom 2, but so will a Q9550 for a lot less money.

Hey what vcore did you use for 3.9? My top seems to be 3.7 on stock, but with the reference cooler I dare not to increase it.
