Hello everyone, I have a pc thats "old", it runs on Windows XP(please don't laugh.). I can't afford a new pc atm but I am saving up for one. My current graphics is on board/integrated and its not great. My gf has an extra Radeon HD 7770 graphics card she wants to give me.

I have the PCIe 16 slot connector for it. But what I'm concerned about is will it work with Windows XP? On Radeons site it states "Windows XP currently not supported http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/graphics/7000/7770/pages/radeon-7770.aspx#3 Altho I've heard aslong as you have the 16 slot connectors it should be fine.

So I'm here hoping for the right answer to be 100%.

My pc specs are below:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+

RAM: 4GB

GPU: ATI Radeon HD 3200

M-Board: Tul TRS780-M1

PSU: 500Watts

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Windows XP is still the best IMO, so no one here will laugh, although if you're planning on getting GPU with DX11 effects and actually seeing them you might want to upgrade it to 7 or 8/8.1

You shoud be fine, the no supported is regards the DX11 probably.

You should be fine, assuming your PSU has the proper connectors also. It needs a 6 Pin PCIE connector, but if it has a Molex, you can get an adapter for it.

If you want to experience DX11 that would be the reason to upgrade windows, but XP is just fine. I think that is the best OS Microsoft has released. The card will be fine in your system just make sure you pick up a 6pin adapter if your PSU does not have one.

XP is not 'just fine'

It's an out of date insecure mess that is going to become even worse in a few months.

Yes I agree, it is unsupported and will become a mess, but having XP will not stop him from playing 99% of the games out there.

Thanks everyone for the replies! I feel more hopeful now. But I have a question.. I went to http://support.amd.com/en-us/download to check which drivers would be needed for it. So entered: Desktop Graphics>Radeon HD Series>Radeon HD 7xxx Series PCIe>Windows Xp 32 Bit

It takes me to Catalyst Software Suite driver, when I look into the release notes I notice "The AMD Catalyst 13.9 Software Suite requires Windows 7 Service Pack 1 to be installed." Does that pretty much mean I won't be able to use the card? Or do I not need to worry about that?

That. If it works than it'll bring miracles to what you have, but of course saving up a proper rig will be what you want.
