Amnesia: Dark Decent

So I finally had the courage to play this game the past few days in complete darkness with headphones on. I have to say this game is a lot better than most games I pay $60 for nowadays. THe atmosphere and the thrills I got from this game all throughout is what Survival/Horror should be. What are your reactions to this game? Do you guys think its the best modern gen Survival/Horror game? My input is that it is best of its kind.

I think it is one of the best horror games ever made, simply put. I can't even play it because i would kinda freeze up or panic and die. Or just run out of oil from hiding in the corner. Its really scary. If you want to check out some other really popular horror games, look at the mods "Cry of Fear" and especially "Nightmare House 2"

It is one of my favorite Horror games of this gen indeed, and likely one of the top horror games on my "of all time list" due to the lack of combat. It is slow methodical, more about building tension and less about blood and gore. It is fairly low on chok scares aswell, which is an automatic +1 in my book.

I don't get it how a game can scare you. I mean, running away from a pack of angry chavs that want to rob you/beat you up IRL is scary. Going somewhere when its dark and seeing a bunch of mean-looking drunk dudes moving in your direction is scary. Seeing a huge dog charging to you at full speed growling like it wants to kill you is scary. Running away from zombies in a video game is not scary because you cannot get physically hurt or killed so there is nothing to be scared about.

Amnesia is a nice atmosphering game but I wouldn't call it, or any game for that matter, scary.

yeah the horror genre shouldn't exist because you said so. if you go to games with that way of thinking you will enjoy them a lot less. oh no that can't happen /trash.
