There is no mature mmorpg. All are mostly populated by kiddo's.

Eve Online. Its complexity scared all the kids away.

Nah, not embarassing, as long as I'm physically capable and not struck with arthritis or something from gaming at an early age on up :D I can see myself still gaming @ 60+. Well ok, maybe it's not that easy to imagine, but it's cool you are able to do it!

Maybe, for "mature" peers, hang out over here for a while and see what the boys and girls (25+) are playing http://www.2old2play.com/ , probably alot of World of Warcraft. BUT....but...I bet if you connect with a group of guys around your age, and assuming of course you aren't asking for something with more depth than WoW or have already played it and didn't like it, you might have a pretty good time.

I'm not an MMO gamer myself though, so actual specifics on games I really have no idea. Good Luck!

Go back to UO. The dated graphics have alienated most younger gamers.

EVE has a great population, but it is a huge timesink that you may or may not find rewarding. If you go that route, make sure to research the game so you know what to expect. Other MMOs of various ages that have remarkably good communities, imho, are Anarchy Online, Jumpgate, and The Lord of the Rings Online, and all three games are very dissimilar. May I also humbly suggest Asheron's Call, which may look dated but boasts a tremendously helpful community. Your mileage will vary, depending on your expectations, but those games feature good, helpful communities.

I think it's often more a matter of finding the right groups of people in the diffrent games as opposed to finding the right game. I've played MMO's for almost as long as you (started with Asheron's call), and played many if not most of the games out there. Ultimatly in everygame you'll meet people who are young and people who are old.

I think the big question is what form of game do you enjoy? Do you prefer a social experience, 'hardcore' game play with tough death penalties, are you ok with a steep learning curve, interested in PvP? Role-Play? Do you care about leveling at all?

You want a mature community? Avoid WoW, that's all I can say.

Being 62, you likely have good taste in literature, especially with JRR Tolkein. I would recommend Lord of the Rings: Online since it's got a mature community and it's quite a deep experience (there's very underdeveloped pvp, but frankly that just makes the game better because its more docile and calm that way). The lore is awesome of course and the stuff you can do is vast and entertaining.

I started playing Eve about 2 weeks ago. i'm really enjoying it atm. the community is great and helpful and the game has an insane amount of depth. dont worry though you learn slowly day by day and everytime you make a mistake. Warning though: unlike other MMOs it requires thinking and your actions can have severe consequences in the game.

I hate to break it to you, but any MMO will have annoying kids on it.

My WoW account is not active now, but the guild I'm in is run by a married couple with kids. They would stop in the middle of PvP to put the kids to bed. Some players are mature even if they young. Some older players are immature. Its a hit and a miss. I personally get annoyed too with immature people. Maybe try Lord of the Rings Online. What has me interested in that is the expansion comes with the original game too, and LOTR fans have a large age spectrum.

Nothing wrong with gaming at an older age. My dad is 58 and he still plays some games on his pc and 360.

As far as MMO's go, here are my all time favs = 1. Ultima Online 2. Everquest 3. Age of Conan 4. Warhammer 5. World Of Warcraft
