Iv got a q6600, 2900 pro 2gbs o RAM and Vista so my specs are fine :S anyone got any ideas why this might happen/any solutions?

Hy budy, don't reinstall your game, thats not your problem. Do you need a new file from "iw3mp.exe". So you find it on the website from gamershell.com. Download it, an fix itin the same folder in the game. Kick the oldery folder out. Try it, it will rock it.8) Greats from switzerland.

NO, DON'T DO ANYTHING POSTED SO FAR!

Seriously, I had the same problem and a friend helped me out.

Since I can't Copy or Paste cuz of Firefox, I can only tell you that instructions to fix it are in the first link on Google if you search "iw3mp.exe has stopped working".

Good luck.

millions of people hav had the same problem, but it seems to be caused by a variety of problems. iv tried all of the solutions iv seen, latest sound card drivers, reinstalled sound card drivers, plugging in earphones, and changing the extension to a particular file. but to no avail yet :( guess i'll just hav to wait till they bring out a patch

I usually try the reinstall first... what are you using for internet security. I've heard of people having issues related to Vista.

Are you guys playing CoD from Steam?

I've yet to be able to play a single MP game, I've gotten a look at a map for 3 seconds before I was kicked though :( Seems like Steam didn't install PunkBuster, so I did that manually. Now it's either my firewall messing things up or something else I can't put a finger on.

I had the same exact issue. (iw3mp.exe has stopped working)

This only happened to me after I re-installed Vista Premium, played many hours prior to the re-install.

My problem was definately related to my sound.

After reading through some of these posts, it kind of rung a bell, I always play with my Logitech USB Headset, but after doing the re-install of Vista, I disconnected the headset while I was working on getting the system back up and running.

As soon as I got all the drivers installed and all of the Microsoft critical udates, I installed cod4.

Failed to run, giving the error 'iw3mp.exe has stopped working' untill I connected my USB headet!

Now it plays fine, not sure what type, but my audio is integrated into the mobo, there must be an issue there, driver or otherwise, with the headset connected, the error doesn't occur.

Guys, if you got Vista and an on-board sound card, then all you need to do is plug in a mic. Or do what it says on the first link on Google if you search "iw3mp.exe has stopped working".
