Originally saw it myself via Tested.com, but the actual source post was here: http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=984661 TLDR the guy proved more or less what everybody already knows - for short runs, there is zero difference between different HDMI cables. He tested with a 'free' included Toshiba cable, what is essentially a $12AU monoprice-equivalent cable, a $20 off-brand cable, a $140 cable and a $200 cable, varying lengths between 2-5m. The differences were within the margin of error of his testing equipment. He also acknowledge that for longer runs, the cable begins to matter - but again, it is more about the shielding of the cable and the straight thickness of the cable, not the price/quality of where you're buying it from. Fun read, as usual!
LIES! My cables promised me CrystalViewVision gold-plated technology for unmatch clarity with SpiralShield carbon-fiber shielding for maximum shielding. It makes the 1's more oney, and the 0's more zeroey than your $3.00 Amazon cables.
I just got one from amazon for $1.00 excluding shipping and the screen is crystal clear, it looks awesome. No reason to pay anything more than $6.00 with shipping for a HDMI cable.
