If you don't already own it, get the orange box, that'll hold you over for a long while (single player and multiplayer). It has Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Ep 1, Half-Life 2: Ep 2, and also Team Fortress 2.

How dare you forget about Portal. Shame on you!
umm the games i already mentioned and counter strike waaaay back in the day. i liked that but it was me and 3 friends playing 2 on 2 so idk how it would be playing against random ppl. i heard the ppl who play are rediculously good.
but since im a console gamer i havent really played much on the computer.
i think battlefiend 2 looks good but does it have single player?

Hey I know what country you live in! :P
And yea, my bad, forgot all about Portal :P
And Battlefield 2 single player is essentially just multiplayer with bots, there's no actual story; and while the bots can be fun for a while, you'll really want to play online. They're pretty much just training for the online mode.

Damnit! I knew there was a reason to not use the AU boards! :P
okay and now what game has a really good single player mode? i heard ut3's was just pracitce for the online with bots, is ut04 the same? if so what what would you recomend?NYiVtec
It depends on how good you are with FPS. I'm not very good, so UT2004's harder modes are difficult for me. But the bots AI on your team are also equally good, and they'll provide backup. It's good practice without dying so much. The AI also ignores player if they're not directly in the path, which I think is good AI unlike the original UT. The Godlike difficulty original Unreal Tournament though... the bots were extremely fast, and they didn't ignore. Practically every encounter with the opposing team was a death sentence.
As GO13M said, the bots in BF is just good for practice, but it won't teach you anything. Sometimes, you can just sit back and let your team, where as in UT2004, your contribution can make the difference between losing and winning.
Try Crysis.thusaha
Sorry i have to lol at that sentence.
LOL
Anyway, FEAR, Gears of War ( kinda nice ), Republic Commando.
FEAR, Jedi Academy, Star Wars Battlefront 2, and STALKER
you could also try looking for Bioshock and Crysis, but I wouldn't spend more than $30 for either of them
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for $20 + Counter-Strike: Source for $20 + Battlefield 2 for $10 = hundreds of hours of fun for $50 RK-Mara
you forget that CSS comes with Day of Defeat: Source (if you get the retail version), so that means instant win
