Hi

Well..Auto Assault closes down for good August 31.....It was a good idea but the implementation wasn't all that great..I tried the free trial but for me one major problem was control of your auto.....Maybe next time..at least they tried something different.

Really sad but it did have its own fanbase though. I did the beta and it was pretty ok. I feel sorry for the devs for putting so much effort into the game and making it unique.

It is really a good thing for some MMOs to fail. Auto Assault failed because it didnt draw enough of peoples interest or some tried it out and didnt like it for some reason. When a MMO fails, it sends messages to other developers in the future about what not to do. Better MMOs will come out in the end to what people like. If the biggest draw to MMOs is fantasy, then we will start seeing more and more fantasy based MMOs then a car type.

Another question comes to mind. Because WoW is so big, does it act like a vacuum? It mightdraw away alot of potential customers for starting MMOs.

I thought Auto Assualt was a bad idea for an MMO but it actually became quite intresting when I looked in to it more. Never had a chance to play it though.

It wasn't BAD it just wasn't fun for long. Once you got over the big explosions and twisted metal esque game play it become a bore.

NCsoft has so many online RPG's already. It doesn't matter if one fails.

I think it's good to have a MMO being so popular, it's an introductory game. Many gamers hear how awesome WoW is, love the online community aspect and get hooked into MMOs. Then after a few months the game gets boring and everyone realizes its a quest grind with no point but to get the best armor by playing for 8 hrs a day for 3 months. Then people look for more MMOs that can offer a bit more, which in the MMO world currently is more or less non-existant, unfortunately...

Yup. Agree with your reasons for it being sad that it's gone but I guess that's not enough in the cold world of business :(

It wasn't to my liking but at least they didn't follow the crowd...

Ade.

This is sad news indeed; however, I can't say it's not expected. AA was floundering for a while. I always liked it because it was different, but I agree with many others in that it wasn't really a good idea for an MMO. I've always thought it would have done better as a PS2 game myself.

The game has interesting combat but it really just came down to locking on your opponents and driving around and holding down shoot, one extra layer is that the front gun can only hit a small radius angle infront of you so you have to hit and run the enemy. The havoc physics were cool to be in a MMO though. I only played the beta so I don't know much or remember much about the game.
