Im coming from athlon 3000, 9800xt and a gig of ram so i know that anything i buy now is deffinetly better.

but i'm not greedy. i'm just looking for some modest upgrades so i can finally get into some new games that don't necessarily have to run at max detail.

i've come up with Athlon x2 6000, 2 gigs of ram and a radeon 3650.

think maybe i should increase to a phenom or maybe a little higer card?

should things be ok?

3870 or 9600gt is not much more than a 4670.

a 4670 can be had for $50 after rebate, and the 3870 and 9600gt are $80 after rebate. but i agree a 9600gt would be a good choice also

If you have a good power supply get a 9600GT, if not get a HD4670.

i was always curious about power supplies. i realise the more watage, the more you can hook up to it. is there a down side in getting one to high and what would be a decent size for me?

A decent quality 550w psu should be good, unless you ever plan on going dual gpu. A 450w should really be enough for single gpu, but its probably better to have a little headroom. There is no downside to a bigger one than neccesary except probably price.

Whats your psu? A 3870 or 9600gt is a better buy imo, but the 4670 is like $3o cheaper, and even moreso if you need a new psu.
