Another RTS Question!

Well hey all, I recently got bored of the stab-the-pc-gamer's-in-the-back game and I'm looking for an RTS that pretty much goes back to the basics, like resource gathering build a big base with a huge army, then just over-run everyone else. I'd like it to be as recent as possible. Thanlks everyone!

Well, it's not really old school per se but Sins of a Solar Empire might be right up your ally. You generally end up with rather massive fleets of ships and micromanagement of individual units isn't really important at all, at least against the computer. (I've never played it online as games tend to be long.)

Other than that I guess there is Red Alert 3 but personally I never thought the C&C games were very good compared to Starcraft or Warcraft III.

I am a big fan of old school RTS games like star craft and Red alert. I would highly recommend you try out Company of heroes. It's the best RTS out since star craft and C&C. It's actually the biggest change in RTS history if you ask me. I've played just about every RTS out and they all felt kind of the same been there done that but COH was a different story.

Highly reccomend warcraft 3 + the frozen throne.

COH involves all that. There's base building and resource gathering. Resource gathering is just done by holding points instead of gathering objects. Which means more time is spent building and fighting rather than gathering.

No but company of heroes is essentially an RTT because your capturing areas for resoruces vs harvesting them from a locale which is real time tactics

I recommend playing C&C. And you did say recent, so I think that would be C&C 3. Personally, I would rather be playing Tibsun, Emperor, or Red Alert 2. Unless you'd go for Generals, that's the best C&C game made by EA. So far at least.
