I have an Antec 1200 case with 2 8800 GTX cards and a pretty good heatsink (OcZ Vindicator), and i'm wondering what my fan speeds should be (I'd prefer to keep the back and top ones the same for gaming and not gaming, since i don't really want to go under my desk each time). Right now they're all at full power and i'm gettign great temps, but it's causing quite a bit of noise.

best thing to do is experiment, turn the fan down a bit and then put the system under load and check the temps. If they are ok, turn them down again, repeat the process.Of course find the max temp of the GPU's first, you probably know these I'm guessing.

I have my exhaust fans on low and the front intake fans on performance (middle setting).....quiet but still great cooling.

I tried this, but my temps seem a bit high: Card 1: 69 celcius, card 2: 78 celcius. Both of them are idle temps.

I have all my fans on max whenever I have it running. Noise doesn't really bother me because I have a headset and I just crank it up and everything goes away...

Personally, I find noise (or lack thereof) to be much more important than performance. I've got an Antec 900 which is a rather loud case with the stock Tri-cool fans, but as long as I set them all to a "low" fan speed it's bearable. I've also got an E8400@3.6 cooled with an AC Pro 7 92mm. I used to have my fans on medium but found that I would rather deal with slightly higher temperatures than the additional noise. As long as you have a good case like the 1200 and a decent aftermarket cooler, then you really shouldn't have any problems with temperatures unless you're doing extreme overclocking or have done a terrible job with cable managment and have a bunch of dust accumulation.

If noise is an issue there are lots of things you can do. The most obvious would be to place your case in an area that can mitigate some of the sound (just don't put it on a carpeted floor!). You could also replace the stock Tri-cool fans with something quieter. Check silentpcreview for some tips.
