Yeah these are the main parts of my rig which I hope to get soon, any suggestions or comments welcomed greatly:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 (@2.66GHz)

GPU: 320MB GeForce 8800GTS

RAM: 2GB CORSAIR DDR2 667MHz

HDD: 320GB SERIAL ATA II HDD 8MB cache, 7200RPM

PSU/COOLING: 500W with advanced cooling

This will be with Vista and a yet unnamed 19" HD monitor. Also, bear in mind i dont have too much throwing around, this costs somewhere in the region of £800.

Thanks.

Who makes your PSU, and are you willing to spend a little more to get the Q6600?

It doesnt specify exactly what make the PSU is, yet it describes it as '500W Quiet Dual Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan' if that helps.

Concerning the Q6600, I could afford it I think, it takes the price up to £888, my budget depends on the amount I get for my numerous eBay auctions.

A question regarding the Quad Core, does it offer enough performance increase to warrant the extra cost? Not many games support quad atm although i suppose it could be better to just get one now in preparation for the future.

Thanks for the replies.

I would check on the PSU to be certain that it can handle it. You don't want to power your equipment with a bad PSU. All the other parts in the rig are pretty good, but if you can, get the 8800GTX.

Ive asked about the PSU, so I'll be able to specify soon (hopefully). As for the 8800GTX, it takes it way over budget at nearly £1100, so thats a no-go.

To JKing, yes Crysis is one game I will be looking forward to, I suppose no one knows yet what performance boost it will offer.

Ive finally got around to knowing something about the PSU. I believe it is the 500W BlueStorm II by FSP. Further info can be found at http://www.fspgroup.co.uk/u.k/02_newproducts/bluestorm2.htm

Will this be sufficient for a Q6600 and a 320mb 8800gts? Thanks.

It is a great PSU , that one is 85% efficiency and rock stable voltage on +12V rails(is more stable than many brand PSU).

It will power your pc without effort.
