Absolutely!
This is by far my favorite Tycoon game of all time. For clarification though, this is the open source version of a game called Transport Tycoon. Basically you start out as a small transportation company in the early 1930's and have to build up your company against other competitors on a huge map. The map is randomly generated at start and places towns, resources, factories, ect in random locations as well as randomly generating the actual layout of the land. You have a multitude of different types of transportation options...trains, planes, boats, buses, and other stuff. You can haul coal from a mine to a power factory, shuttle passengers and mail between towns with airports you build, and other stuff like that. The game is very deep and detailed as well. Towns/factories/mills/ect give out subsidiaries and bonuses, you can take out loans, steal customers from competitors, and even build company HQ's that improve as your company becomes more wealthy. The game gives you tons of feed back as well with a fantastic interface where you can see your bottom line, individual vehicle running costs and profits, graphs showing your performance against competitors, and tons of other stuff.
The real beauty of the game is how you progress through time as the game world advances in history. As the years pass, new technology becomes available and the game's depth really becomes apparent. You switch from focusing only on expanding your business empire to as managing upgrading you existing fleets smartly, replacing older worn out vehicles, and improving routes to save time and money. If I remember correctly the latter portion of the game takes place in the year 2050 (and beyond?) where instead of old steam engines and prop planes you have monorails and super sonic passenger jets.
It is an older game, but don't let the dated graphics deter you. The open version has high resolution support, and honestly it still looks pretty good due to how detailed everything is.
