Hi all
So like many of you, I'm highly anticipating Battlefield 3 and like most PC gamers, I'll be striving to get some tasty tasty graphics and performance and that's where you guys come in!

Now I'm no n00b but finding the right bang for my buck, so to say is abit harder for me to decide so right now I'll give you my current rig specs and my budget *roughly 300-400 Australian dollars*

Rig:
AMD Phenom II X4 3.39ghz

4Gb Ram

XFX HD 1gb 4890

and Windows 7 32bit

I'll happily provide more details if need be, and yes there is quite alot of room in my case

Thanks alot and highly appreciate it!

No point in buying a GPU now, for a game that comes out in a few months. Prices drop, new products are released. I'm sure your 4890 will keep you happy till October. In the mean time, you could install the 64bit version of Windows.

That is similar to mine, and i'm sure it'll be fine. We'll probably lose fancy things like certain lighting effects or SSAO, but it'll still look very pretty. And you 32 bit windows is limiting ram.

Hang onto your 4890 a bit longer, it should still be keeping up quite nicely. Then when BF3 comes, if your not happy with the performance, then upgrade.

Who knows if ATi/Nvidia will pull something out of the bag to surprise us all before the game releases this October.

nice 1

No I didn't mean a new generation right away but sometimes the GPU giants bring up stuff like GTX 460(which outclassed 465),HD4770(outgunned 4830),GTX 275,216 cores GTX260,HD4890 which give tremenedous p/p ratio. So when anticipating for a game, it is wise to hold on a bit.At worst the current crop of GPu's can only be cheaper when the game releases. And for someone with 4890,even more so as sizeable investment on GPU has already been made not too long ago.

Hmm interesting but yeah you are all right. I guess I'm just the most impatient person ever  In regards to my 32 bit windows being limiting, well it is!

I plan on doing a complete upgrade sometime into the near future! 8 gb of ram here I come!!!

Thanks
