i'd like to see some frame rates on fully setup rigs for games please. i was about to pull the trigger on the egg for an i7 build for my first ever that costs an arm and a leg until i saw some of the deals with vga/940 combos. also i understand mobos and memory are cheaper for those phenom ii cpus too. if that route is more bang for buck i will definately go there. or is it better to go with lga 775 cpu builds? gonna build for gaming and movies. i pretty much wanna save money and still play everything on max settings with moderate resolutions. been researching for a few weeks and i'm still confused haha

From what I understand, you can spend an arm and a leg for the better performing i7 from Intel and be set with something that's top of the line right now. Or you can have a CPU that's pretty dang good (just a slight step behind clocking performance from Intel's Core 2 Duo from what I've heard) and be set for a while, all while spending less money. Aside from AMD not quite having the speed that Intel does, the Phenom II is pretty good choice.

You can't really go wrong with the Phenom II or i7. It kind of just all depends on how much you're willing to spend and if top of the line/most brand new/absolute best means more to you then having something that's pretty dang good for less money....well, then i7 is the route you'd probably want to take. Otherwise, Phenom II might be a good option for you.

There are a few users i've seen with the Phenom II 940 and they say they love it. Benchmarks have prooved them to be slightly behind the core 2 quad on clock per clock but they do have a great price/performance ratio.
