DotA: Defense of teh Ancients.
You'll never get tired of this custom game.
75% of all custom games are DotA
google it
[QUOTE="Arcain48"]I've been playing DOTA pretty solidly for the past few years.ForTheNguyen
i'll pwn u all day -random
Big lolz.
Will it last you ask?
I've had the game for about three years and it's still great. Especially if your friends own it, you can play online games teaming up with them or playing custom games with them. A great game.

I've played that game for a year, I stopped because it was too demanding from me, plus I need the time off the computer for studying.
But, it was an excellent year. WC3:TFT is an online masterpiece (I hope it's still like that). Great people, great ladder system, awesome maps (both "regular" maps and custom-made maps). Dota is indeed famous, but I preffer ladder. Still it is an awesome team game.
Go get the game ASAP you won't regret.
DotA is retarded, don't buy the game just to play this waste of time
Overall, it's a very good RTS, easily one of the best that are out right now. But, if you planned on becoming competitive, you're kind of late

just cuz ur a noob @ DotA doesn't mean it's retarded
i do agree ur really late tho, wait for sc2
The single player is great it takes time to learn to micro your units. If you stick with it you will have fun when you win. There are strategies online that can help you if you are stuck in the campaign with some of the more difficult missions.
Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos is part 3 and Frozen Throne is it's expansion. If you haven't played them both I strongly suggest you do, it's worth the journey.
Online the competition is fierce, but there are still noobs out there. So you will eventually win even if you lose a lot. The important thing would be to watch replays from sites like replayers.net and wcreplays.com It takes time to pick up the game and micro though. Easy to enter, difficult to master.
All in all Warcraft 3 has carved it's time in history, and remains a force to be recokend with. It's very well balanced for a 4 race game, perhaps the most balanced 4 race RTS out there. Also Blizzard keeps supporting it in tournaments and with patches.
First, this isn't too late, people still earn plenty of $$$ in tournaments, there are actually people that became rich from WC3, and not just Koreans.
Secondly, you can enjoy other games than DotA. Not everything is custom!!! You can play "normal" "melee" maps, face other players 1v1 in the classic way.
Third, you're wrong when you say "Online the competition is fierce, but there are still noobs out there. So you will eventually win even if you lose a lot " . If you lose a lot, the ladder system will match you with LOSERS which mean either: pros that lose intentially, thus you will lose again OR they will keep losing intentially against you and leave right awayOR bad players that lose like you, thus giving you a chance to win and improve.
So it's not "even", it's " you will win after losing a lot". And there is a huge range of skill levels and players of all kinds.
