Bioshock Infinite comes out February 26!  This is easily my most anticipated game this year, surpassing even Watch Dogs.

I was a HUGE Bioshock fan, but let down by Bioshock 2...didn't even finish the second one.

This one looks so good.  Anyone else hyped about this?

Excited but extremely nervous at the same time. Very few of these big budget games seem to live up to their own hype these days.

The first Bioshock is my favourite game of all time, the second one should not have been made, but man I can't wait for Bioshock Infinite, just wish it was next gen.

Looking forward to it, not so much exited. Was massively pumped for the first Bioshock, and was ultimately a bit underwhelmed because of all its problems, enjoyed the second one - which was honestly more well written in terms of how it wrapped itself up and addressed all of its themes and the action; even if it lacked the original punch of the first. But Infinite is looking pretty rad, so I'll be picking it up when it arrives.

How can even this be considered 'Bioshock', if it's not: A.) underwater, and or B.) within the city of Rapture? To me, this rather seems more like a spin-off rather than anything of the sort.

Really looking forward to it. I enjoyed both Bioshock games so far and hope Infinite can live up to my expectations. Bioshock 2 wasn't as good as the first, but I still enjoyed it.

as per usual these days ill resist the urge to get all giddy and hyped and instead will wait for user reviews.

lost count of how many times my heart has sunk this past year after buying yet another overhyped game that promised the earth but delivered little, it's not nice discovering your expectations are becoming out of touch with reality. at this rate soon it seems i'll be happy simply if the game loads and has k&m support

still, on a positive note, infinite looks and sounds great. i always enjoy games with distinct art styles and interesting cultural and philosophical undertones

Yeah, I can agree with you a lot on this one. I loved 1, but found 2 a little underwhelming. I assumed going into it, it was the same developer, but found out later that it wasn't. Irrational has done a great job over the years, but what concerns me is that they had a bunch of people leaving during the middle of development. I'm still really wanting to get it. Just not sure if it's a Day 1 anymore.

EDIT: Also OP, the game doesn't come out until March 26. We still got a way's off. :(

I hate the Bioshock games so I'm not going to be buying Bioshock Infinite. The new one also looks too "Americanised" and the game will basically pander to Americans ,and state how they're the greatest country in the world when they're not. Company of Heroes 2 and Rome 2 Total War....now those are games I'm excited for.

Now that's what I call judgemental and wilfully ignorant. On the contrary Infinite's premise and narrative is apparently extremely critical of jingoism, and American exceptionalism of the early 1900s; whilst also being a character drama, science ficiton and shooting men in the faces tale. And that's going by all the interviews, previews and promotional content since the games announcement.

It looks decent, for some reason though I just am not nearly as excited about this one as I was for the original Bioshock. I think my tastes in gaming are dwindling, some really high profile games just don't really do it for me any more...maybe i need a new hobby?

A lot of people are VERY excited but I'm glad everyone is keeping their cool about it. It's gonna be amazing but it hasn't reached stupid levels of hype like TLOU or something similar, and I hope it stays that way. Last thing we need is it to be overhyped.

But I expect very great things from it

Bio just means life in general so might as well use it. I'm looking forward to Bioshock but I don't think it'll be as impactful as the original and it looks irritatingly tight-scripted. Either that or it'll be a masterpiece in storytelling like HL2. But it's nice to have a distinct game to look forward to this year.

I have reservations about the quality of the combat which was pretty unsatisfying in the first two games but I'll probably get it anyways since the setting looks pretty neat.

There was an article a little while ago about how awesome the PC version will be so thats something.

Very excited. Although, I will miss the darkened atmosphere of Bioshock 1 and 2 and plus it doesn't have that neon art deco style which I'm a big fan of.

Just as you, I was a big fan of the first but was very dissappointed by Bioshock 2.

I'm looking forward to getting this but will wait until reviews come up. I don't want to be let down again as with Bioshock 2.

There's a lot of weird posts in here. A spin-off? Hardly, that is what BioShock 2 was essentially. How many spin-off titles are developed in a four year cycle? Choosing to create a new world and gameplay elements means more hard work, not less. And the worst post I read: "it's too Americanized?" Hear that? It's the sound of the source material flying over your head. Levine isn't a stupid guy. This will clearly be a critical look at American values and culture. And for the "I didn't like BioShock 2" crowd: it's not the same people.

I'll wait for player feedback, and probably a sale as well. It's looking promising, but they're hyping it to the moon and I am almost certain that they won't deliver.

The original Bioshock's gameplay was underwhelming to say the least, and I don't think the 'aerial on-rails' concept will improve that. Sure, the art and themes do a lot for me, but...I don't know, I'm not convinced that they still know how to make a compelling shooter.

Also, I have a feeling that they're going to try to be -too- clever with a really forced plot twist, like...I don't know, the protagonist turning out to be Andrew Ryan or something. The intro gameplay I saw deliberately elided a lot of key information, which pretty much screamed 'Your preconceived notions are wrong! Aren't we clever!' at me. They have to outdo Bioshock's kind-of-interesting twist, but I suspect that I'm now too cynical to buy into it. Hmph!

It looks decent, but people seem to be over hyping it like its the best thing since sliced bread, the actual gunplay in Bioshock was horrible and I just hope they fix it in this one. Looking foward to Prey 2, Metro last light, crysis 3, Halo 3 pc more, but I will be picking this up.

Well, like most games I don't care about, I've managed to read or see virtually nothing regarding this game other than its title. I always found Bioshock to be one of those games that was overhyped and then overrated. It was a good game for sure, but was often praised to be one of the best games of all time. I didn't see much more than a streamlined remake of System Shock 2 with a niche atmosphere (found it dreadfully boring and unimaginative, like all games that try too hard and lack backing creative talent). So yea, I'll let the game surprise me if it's actually any good.

I guess I don't believe everything a game developer says. This game will probably end up like Assassins Creed 3 where the dev said that AC3 wasn't going to be pro American, yet the game was exactly that; Bioshock Infinite is going to end up in the same boat simply because the devs know they will make a ton of money off of the patriotic Americans, so they will design the game around making America look like the best country in the world, and how they're the best. I'm not going to touch this game if that's the case. With that being said, I might give the game a chance if the user reviews are good but I'm not counting on it. From the trailers, the abundance of Americans flags is a bit overkill for me. I want to play a game, not a piece of American propaganda. From the few trailers I'v seen, the gameplay does look good but as I said before, I don't want to play an American propaganda game.

That is some seriously close minded thinking. Look at the design of the world: it's all the American bombast and none of the function. We're in the middle of an economic collapse and you think this game is some counter to that? Of course not. Levine clearly writes stories that are critical of superpowers and culture. You aren't the first to post this nonsense. You should be falling to your knees that developers still want to make games that honor a player's intellect. All the others assume we want to be husky military front liners. Now THAT'S American, my friend.

Excellent post.

The fact that you are even thinking about these sort of issues is more than we could say for other generic "US Army vs. Russians/ Middle Eastern Country" type games.

Calling AC3 a pro-American piece of propoganda is completely ignorant. I am not trying to pick on anyone, but its just a shame that anything with a deeper meaning is generally lost on the average gamer.

Seriously? if you really meant that, it must mean you know stuff about Germany from playing Wolfenstein and that is stupid to say the least.

Propaganda is not culture, propaganda is bad taste and hopefully Infinite is not full of it like the terrible AC 3.

This and Blacklist are my top 2. Haven't seen anything from Thief 4 so can't comment.

[QUOTE="Lulekani"] And I love Propaganda games, how else does one gain insight into different cultures ?DanielDust

Seriously? if you really meant that, it must mean you know stuff about Germany from playing Wolfenstein and that is stupid to say the least.

Propaganda is not culture, propaganda is bad taste and hopefully Infinite is not full of it like the terrible AC 3.

Maybe he was being ironic. American studios often portray what they think is an acurate representation of other cultures, politics and ideals but very often either get it wrong or only offer a superficial look at it. As you said, Wolfenstein is a nonsensical representation of what Nazi ideology was supposed to consist of and should not be taken as an example of American understanding but rather a display of pretentiousness. As for BioShock Infinite, like the first two games, I think it contains a wholly original concept in a fictional world and only makes subtle references to real world politics. For example, Bioshock 1 was about an uprising in a city intended to be for the free artist but also made references to Russian and German activities during World War II. It didn't claim to understand them but merely brought them in as illustrations to the game's own fiction story.

While the city itself looks great, I agree that the 'clean-ness' of the world is something that I didn't like in the footage. I much preferred the pessimism of the uptopia becoming a dystopia in Bioshock 1 and 2. At the moment, Infinite looks like a day out at a theme park or something. I'm sure the story will be great as always from Levine but I'm having trouble getting used to the look of the game.

Rapture was creepy as hell but since i Played the Gears Of War trilogy so much that its post apocolyptic nature began to depress. It would be nice to be pampered by the luxuries Columbia has to offer.

I'm honestly not expecting much, but I REALLY want a good follow up to Shock 2. Kevin Levine has proven with Bioshock that he can still deliver an FPS with good gunplay and good atmosphere, hopefully that 1999 mode fixes the difficulty problem that ruined Bioshock for me.
