Diden't like the first one so not hyped for the 2ndtestfactor888Guild wars 2 is hardly like GW1 actually , probably just the lore.

GW2 =/= GW1 at all. Coming from someone who has played GW1 and experienced endgame material before they released all those expansions, GW2 is going a completely new direction. Visually, gameplay-wise, even interface. I was surprised when I first saw gameplay vids of GW2. I was like: "WOW. This is a completely new and different game." With that said, I'm very hyped. I had a lot of fun when GW1 came out so I could imagine with how advanced GW2 is compared to its predecessor, I know I'll love it either way.Elann2008
Pretty much summed it up, and im glad they are doing it, looks like its gonna be the ****

basically its going full mmo from an online rpg
will ahve lots more races 9playable) and it will let you carry over your old hero's achievements into the new game.. did i mention you can carry over your characters suffix in their name technically making your new toon an "offspring"
As long as the micro-transactions don't add GAMEPLAY ADVANTAGES.... I'm there...I know it isnt coming out for a long time, but I was wondering if anyone else was realllllly hyped for this game, I need to play like a demo now!

Guildwars 1 didnt, just some extra character slots and other minor rip-offs
Looks great, they had me at 'no grind' as every level takes the same amount of time (1-2 takes the same time as 60-61).

one accomplishments in guidlwar 1 give you point for guildwars 2.. at a certain number of points you get something, an exclusive skill, a mini pet, a new weapon or two, a title for guildwars 2. whats cooler si that the rewards add up its not jsut oh you got 13 points you get jsut this.. you get everything between 1-13
you get points from doing any number of things, getting a title, placing something in the HoM(or a certain item or number of items), finishing the HoM, completing a campaign, winning in pvp tournaments, etc.
for example i have 10 elite aromrs, 12 hero's + 2 pets, 30 mini's and 4 weapons in the HoM as well as 3 titles
that gives me say.. 48 point
i get everything between 1-48 come gw2
theres a point calculator on the guildwars 2 website
one can also bring over (its not clearly stated but its either) all or part of a characters name on your account to guildwars 2.
meaning either you get to take all of it, or the 1st half (prefix), or the second half (suffix) as the naming scheme requires 2 word names.

So basically new players are at a disadvantage if they diden't play GW1? I mean I know the rewards don't really sound game breaking that original players get but its still putting new players at a disadvantage. Sounds like a pretty good reason not to pick up the sequel unless you bothered to play the first one[QUOTE="ionusX"][QUOTE="the_ChEeSe_mAn2"] Can you explain the "carrying achievements and the suffix name over" part?testfactor888

really all the rewarding veterans does is making gear gathering shorter and making your gamepaly more comfortable and adjusted.
guidlwars 1 is a LONG game to get everything done in and to even be able to near the highest end gear in the calculator is an achievement.
and you can add to it after gw2 arrives and you can continue to add to it as they expand the game.
also we are getting jipped too. 100,000 man horus goes into a full hall and theres alot fo stuff there.. we dotn see a cent of it.. we get a FRACTION of it back as different stuff.
to fill a hall costs nearly 10 billion gold (assuming you pay for everything) and nearly 5,000 hours of playtime. assuming you dont resort to ebay.

What are the exclusives that newbies will get as so far it still sounds like its just putting new players at a disadvantage thus far. When a new game comes out everyone should be on the same playing field. Having things cross over is nice and all for veterans just seems like it would not be fair to people wanting to try the game out new.[QUOTE="ionusX"][QUOTE="testfactor888"] So basically new players are at a disadvantage if they diden't play GW1? there are talk of low level intro dungeons we veterans wouldnt get unelss we apid for them.. you wouldnt have to fork over a cent.
That's what I am hoping for....Aren't all the items you get all COSMETIC? No change in gameplay at all?
Snakemaster9
1. All items and titles are purely aesthetics. They're not designed to give people large bonuses; heck, they even said that the armours and weapons are designed for lower level characters
The equipment themselves differ only in appearance, and there will be similar, and most definately greater, weapons acquirable through standard gameplay. It's just a thank you, and will have no impact on gameplay other than not having to find or buy a different weapon at the level where you are able to acquire them.
The titles? Again, something that you didn't have to do anything, or, very little in GW2 to claim. Titles acquired in GW2 will most definately be revered more as the game ages rather than those in GW1 due to the difficulty in acquiring them relative to GW2.
[QUOTE="Snakemaster9"]That's what I am hoping for.... As a GW1 player, I am happy for it to just be cosmetic. I assume there will be customizable however like the non-green weaps in GW1.Aren't all the items you get all COSMETIC? No change in gameplay at all?

I think I'm gonna be picking it up. I have a whole bunch of games to hold me over until then so it's not like it's really a big deal. I'm still a little skeptical about getting it though because I really wasn't too impressed with Guild Wars: Nightfall...
The only problem with guild wars is the fact that its soo time consuming, i think they should make most of the titles easier in guild wars 2 because in the first one a lot of them were ridiculous, like the gladiator title for instance. I hope they raise the level cap as well, 20 was too easy to reach and therefore not as satisfying when you got to it. Graphics look amazing for a mmorpg, and so does the combat :P
I remember some of the group quests in GW1 took FOREVER.... with no save function....The only problem with guild wars is the fact that its soo time consuming, i think they should make most of the titles easier in guild wars 2 because in the first one a lot of them were ridiculous, like the gladiator title for instance. Maybe it's just me, but with Eye of North it seemed like they decided "ok most of our lore kinda sucks so we're gonna gonna make a whole bunch of new stuff, like previously unmentioned races" Also, yea I'm hyped for GW2

Yea I know what you mean. Maguma (sp?) Forest missions wwere brutally long, and that was without the bonus side mission
I hear they are raising the level cap to 80 in GW2.The only problem with guild wars is the fact that its soo time consuming, i think they should make most of the titles easier in guild wars 2 because in the first one a lot of them were ridiculous, like the gladiator title for instance. Isnt this abit of an oxymoron? the titles were optional, you didnt really have to reach for them. I was more of a weapons collector. Got a tormented weapon on my account and elite armour, minipets and hero armour and that is about it... all that and my best title was a 8 Kurzick title track. Anyway they seem to be taking out the missions, if it is too long you can just leave and if you're lazy you can join in half-way.The only problem with guild wars is the fact that its soo time consuming, i think they should make most of the titles easier in guild wars 2 because in the first one a lot of them were ridiculous, like the gladiator title for instance. Not hear, this is a fact, the level cap is 80. Also, dont be concerned about levling all the way to 80 because the same time it takes to get to 10-11 is AROUND the same time to get from 79-80. The leveling plateaus instead of going up and up and up.. If you didnt know. :D

No, not really, if you played it properly and was into pvp like I was, you would know that you need decent pvp titles to join a good pvp guild. Also titles were quite a big part of the game and they were something you could show off and work towards. Yes there optional, but even so many of them could of been easier, instead of taken god knows how many hours to complete. The only problem with guild wars is the fact that its soo time consuming, i think they should make most of the titles easier in guild wars 2 because in the first one a lot of them were ridiculous, like the gladiator title for instance.
