Anyone ever bought a game off of Origin?

Hey guys, when you buy a game on Origin, does it automatically lock to your account (like with Steam) or does it give u a redeemable access code so that you can activate the game on another account? The reason I ask is that I want my friend in the states to preorder Star Wars: The Old Republic for me, but I want to know if he can create an Origin account, then get the CD Key and send it to me to redeem, or does Origin automatically lock the purchase to his account?

Whats also great about Orgins and Steam is you can download the game on several computers with out having to rebuy or carry a disk, i have Mass Effect 2 on my PC and Laptop..as with several other games

And once it is activated, it is locked to the account it was activated on.

I actually bought the 2 'booster packs' for Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142 several years ago through EA's downloader system (years before Origin) and was pleasantly surprised to see them in the list of My Games on Origin when I downloaded the BF3 beta. If that's any help.

I think it needs the ability to force certain games to be played in offline mode. The fact that BF3 is worthless when you don't have internet connection, it's a little annoying.theafiguy

I only have BF3 from origin. But I will eventually get SWTOR from there direct download service also. IMO I just treat it like steam. The weird second cousin once-removed of steams

Actually this isn't true anymore, if you google it or know where to look you don't even need to run Origin anymore, luckily. I've been doing it all day today and it works just fine without Origin, you do still need battlelog if you want coop or multiplayer of course, but no spyware necessary!
