If so what would you say about it? I mean when the signal is a full strength is it as good as using an Ethernet cable?

Thanks

It plays fine. Make sure you get a good router/modems and you'll have no problems. I download at 1,5mb/s (not bit, bytes I know the difference) and even at half signal it still manages to reach it so I don't really have any problems with it.

Just like any other connection, it depends on the quality of your connection. If you have a strong connection with low packetloss and low ping, the lack of a wire isn't going to hurt your network performance.

Unless you have some insane fibre connection there is no difference between wireless and wired networking for internet. I use both and have had no issues at all.

If you have a typical $50 wireless router like Linksys.. You won't notice a difference in gameplay.. You MAY notice a difference between downloading files but not much.. Really the only thing I see a huge difference is if your transfering huge sized files from computer to computer in the same network.

Actually in Call of Duty you will notice lag every 60 seconds. This is because there is a service in the background checking the network every 60 seconds. On XP it's called Wireless Zero Configuration. Turn it off. I'm on Vista and I use WLAN Optimizer to counteract this.

This isn't always the case but I find that in general wired = a touch more reliable than wireless

I agree, but i don't have a long enough cable. Also, I get interference from other devices sometimes. very annoying.

I've used a mixture of wired and wireless LAN for years now and have never had an issue with either. Maybe you need to buy better quality hardware?

I used to game on a 54mbs wireless

Then I connected via cable and now run at 100mbs, it makes a difference big time.

I used to be the last person in the room when a game started, now I am first every time.

I also have much less lag problems and ping issues.

Wrong Wired will ALWAYS be better, wireless signal has to rebound/reflect off objects to reach the PC. A CAT6 Unshielded Pair Network Cable is dedicated to send the signal through straight, without any interference...

The main issue is not latency (ping) nor bandwidth (capacity), but packet loss. TCP streams (web browsing, downloads, etc). tend to be reasonable at handling packet loss, but most games suffer with it. Always go wired if you can.

No one is argueing that what so ever.. But you won't NOTICE A DIFFERENCE what so ever for playing video games.. If you do, its so small like maybe a few second greater load times that if you are bothered by this you must be the most anal person ever.

I play on wireless half the time and I don't suffer any lag.
