what mouse brand do you have?

I have the Logitech G5, Razer Diamond, Creative Fatality, and some others. Currently I'm using the creative one and it's really comfy in CSS.

I don't play CSS but I have mouse acceleration off when playing games. As for Jonothan's settings - I have no idea. I thought he was a Quake player.

I don't think I've ever heard of him playing CS, in any competitive sense.

It seems I'm the only one that leaves it ON. 1.5 is good for aiming, but it's very slow in turning (especially when there is no acceleration)

How do you turn ON or OFF the mouse acceleration? I have a logitech MX518 and I haven't installed the setpoint drivers yet, because I can still change the DPI on the fly, so there's no need for me to use them unless I'm missing something important.

Thanks!

you can turn it ON/OFF from the control panel -> mouse settings (shown in pic below). Also, you don't need to install the drivers.

Yeah he does not play Source competitively, but I have seen videos of him playing. He is decent at CSS, but not great. I am ex CAL-I in CSS. Best mouse for CSS is either a MX518 or G5 with no mouse acceleration. I play with default Windows sensitivity, Source sensitivity @ 5.0, and my G5 set @ 800dpi. You could also play with Source sensitivity @ 1.0 and G5 @ 2000dpi. I play with a Steelpad S&S.

I really didn't like the Fatal1ty 1010 mouse. I'm used to Logitech. I also hear that those mice go bad after a month. Something about the clickers not working. I'll stick with my G7.

lol Impressive CAL-I. I'm ex WCG Prelims for CSS, use a MX1000 @ 800DPI, default windows sensitivity + CPL mousefix. In-game sensitivity 2.0, I use a Razer Pro Pad.

everyone didn't like the older model (fatal1ity 1010), but I never had that one. I have the newer Fatal1ty model, and It's much better than my razer diamond, G5, and the MX518 (have them all)

If you're like me (annoyed by the side buttons), the Fatal1ty mouse (the newer model not 1010) has an impressive button layout that won't let you unintentionally click the side buttons.

@Mystery_Writer: thanks for the little guide, and to answer your question I play with acceleration ON, but I'm going to try MadExponent's tip. Side note: AFAIK Fatality plays Quake games (q3a, q4) and I have no idea about his mouse settings.

I use 2 blacks and 3 silver ones. I am work right now so I cannot check the weights but i think that is 2 x 4.5g and 3 x 1.5g or something.

With CSS or CS I tend to change my mouse settings daily lol.

Some days one setting is too fast, other days its too slow... mayhaps if I played on a more consistant basis.

Also I have this habit of when I do good I assume its the mouse setting. So I will rock out on one map with one setting, then get trashed on the next, so I change the setting lol...

It doesn't matter what other people do or use, you need to find what works for you... with that said here is my choice setup. MX510 with an OC USB port at 1000mhz, repalcement tefflon feet on the mouse and my QcK+ pad....

I don't use the CPL mouse fix. Some do because they are used to it. Really if you just change your launch options in CSS to -noforcemaccel -noforcemparms -noforcemspeed then you don't really need to mess with CPL fix. Using those commands + default windows sens, 5.0 sens in Source, and 800 dpi on my g5 gives me such amazing aim it almost feels like a hack or something. It becomes just so precise.
