Anyone know why i'm experiencing monitor flicker?

my specs are I7 950, hd 5870, 6gb ram, asus premium mother board, 1000 watt psu. So every now and then i would get monitor flickers. It's like the monitor can't keep up with me simply trying to scroll up and down a page(it's any kind of page). I have a samsung syncmaster 2370 which has a 2ms speed. I'm connecting the monitor to my pc through DVI. I had $400 computers with none of this problem. Anyone know what's wrong?

did u overclock your gpu very high ... incase u did ur card might not be able to handle it hence your screen flickers.gravitygamer

no i did not. i didn't touch the overdrive options. It says that it's locked and i kept it that way

Make sure you get the latest drivers.

i have a samsung px2370 which is $299 from bestbuy. The speed is 2ms which i was told is very fast. As for refresh rate i think it is 60mhz

update your drivers...it must work. if it doesnt then i think it might a fault of ur gfx card.could be some loose connections maybe.gravitygamer

no never it not slow.....its good.the human eye cannot find differnce after 60mhz. 60mhz is the optimum rate.gravitygamer

1. Its not 60mhz, its just 60Hz. They mean 2 different things completely.

2. Are you an optometrist? if your not, don't go saying that the human eye can't see any higher.

@TC, 2ms doesn't mean anything, they are most likely lying, a high quality monitor, may have a slow response time, but wont have any lag. What your most likely experiencing is bad video drivers, bad GPU or in the worst case a monitor problem (Internal Circuit Problem), try another input sourceto determine if its the PC or monitor.

Forget it, if you think you know better than a professional, then by all means go for it, I'd rather get the advice of a professional.

You may need to uninstall one of the 5870 drivers. I forget which driver gave me an issue but I had this same problem after I installed all the drivers for my 5850. I uninstalled one of them (it was the last one on the page at the time) and that solved the problem.
