I am using a dual screen setup with a BenQ 24" 1080p LCD (LED) and a Acer 22" 1680x1050. Only got this 24" yesterday, it has a 5 mill : 1 dynamic contrast, and its nice to game on because its wider than my 22", and higher res, also it has less power consumption. I can't directly answer whether I think the LED monitor is better for gaming since I've only played a bit of mass effect 2, dirt 2, and PES 2010. What I can say is don't skimp on your monitor and get something you'll be happy with. Secondly I prefer the 1080p 16:9 format since tv shows and some movies take up the entire space of the monitor instead of black letterboxes top and bottom. Essentially, don't pay too much extra for LED backlight technology, although its a nice bonus, and is less power consuming (thats especially helpful if you plan to get another in the future).

yeah im holding on to my LG flatron L227wtg, for now, its a great gaming lcd monitor, (until the LED tv's/monitors become more of a standard and come down significantly in price. year or two im guessing.)
