I am. My saves STILL do not work. I emailed Bethesda twice and called them once. I didn't get a response to either email and the guy I talked to when I called seemed anxious to get off the phone. Basically all he told me to do was disable SLi (strangely enough, it was already disabled) and he verified all my drivers are up to date.

32 horus in and no crashes, no save issues and no freezes.

Sometimes the NPCS walk around all wierd or get stuck but thats it for me. Less buggy then Oblivion and Fallout3 where on release imo.

Crashes the entire PC very 20-45 minutes. And by that I mean, it powers off the PC. It's great when it runs, but it rarely does for long. I'm a bit worried, actually. Forced shutdown out of nowhere can't be good for a computer. TC, we have the same videocard, except I only have one of them. I managed to get a big improvement in FPS by using the first (not the optional) of these files, and then turned off auto-save. Just stopped using quick-save as well to see if that makes it no longer crash. I've heard rumors quick-save is very buggy in this game.

Please tell me you had more than just the auto-save and quick-save?

The saves issue is a steam problem.

system shutdowns might be caused by faulty hardware - PSU/GPU/CPU (least likely but it's possible). when it's actually game related, it's most likely the memory leak issue. I ran into this once with F:NV and that's after a long gaming session (an even longer period of time the system was on) when I exited the game. that is to say, there might be some gitches across the whole system, not just the game.

like I said in other F:NV threads, you won't really run into any true bugs if you take care of and know your rig. there's minor glitch, but not anything game breaking.

If it was hardware, I doubt the computer would run Dragon Age, Starcraft II, or stress tests, without crashing. The way I see it, if no other game has this problem, that means the hardware is fine and the problem is with the game.

I have the file installed, autosaves are off, and I don't use quicksaves anymore. It's not a hardware issue because everything else (Fallout 3 included) runs perfect. If it is a Steam issue, how can I go about getting it resolved>

I only get serious amounts of lag when there are around 15 NPC's on screen at once - aside from that she's been running fine!

Gotta watch the drivers. Fallout 3 and Vegas don't like the new nvidia drivers. My older drivers from like 6+ months ago work much better.

Also try to turn off any kind of shadows that usualy causes trouble.

Haven't had any problems with saves but do get the random crash once in awhile i got used to hitting F5 (quick save) alot.

It can be both you know? I'm use to the majority of posts being about problems because the loudest wheel always gets the most attention. You shouldn't dismiss those that have few problems though because there aren't as many because those people will be playing the game and not complaining about it.

And I've yet to see many people being banned because they complain about NV:Fallout, but instead how they complain. {Flame Shield Up}

if i save outdoors in the middle of nowhere the game has a very annoying habit of sticking a deathclaw right next to me when i next load it up and it kills me in 2-3 hits. even if there's a building near by you cant run for cover because it follows you in. it's very, very annoying

Tried that, it's still crashing, though admittedly not as often. Call me narrow-minded, but when the latest nvidia driver openly states that it's "increasing compatibility with Fallout: New Vegas" I install it. And when the older drivers work better than the new one, I'm still blaming Obsidian/Bethesda and not nVidia. This game would be a disgrace to any game developer.

I'm happy for the ones who can play it without problems. What I take issue with are the ones who assume that becuase they don't have problems, the game has no bugs, and the crashes are somehow my fault. ;)

Now with that I agree completely. No game should be launched in the condition NV:F was. At the time of this writting a new comprehensive patch has been advertised to be released in the comming weeks. Not soon enough. I'm not also trying to assert that the game is not broken just because some people have no problems. I was simply replying to the other poster who IMO was doing just the opposite. In any case I won't be buying this game until it is fixed or goes on sale, pretty much whichever come first.;)

Obviously going to the other extreme is as bad. If the game had been unplayable for Obsidian's QA team they wouldn't have released it. At least I hope they wouldnt', but with Bethesda in charge of that, you never know. A part of the problem is that the QA team apparently only had access to one single computer running Windows XP and a very outdated video card... And don't be in a hurry to buy this game. A patch out this soon (yes, this is soon) means they either knew about the issues and where already working on them, in which case they should have fixed them before release, or they're rushing it and it won't fix everything and may even break the game more. Either way, stay patient and wait for both official patches and community patches before you buy this game. I wish I had.

Ya I rarely buy games right out the gate anymore. Some exceptions would be games from Bioware, Valve and, Blizzard. Their games seem to get patches that add and improve the play rather then fix crashing bugs. I claim apocryphal the story about only having a XP machine and an old video card to test the game which I assert makes the release even more heinous. I could be wrong though, I just can't believe it.

Well, that part really just me being facetious and venting :P At the same time, when a game works great except on the most current high-end hardware something is seriously wrong with the way it was developed and coded.
