HD 2900PRO 512MB at $160.;)

This should be considered the best budget card right now the extra ram will be very useful in crysis and future games. If you can afford the 512 version of the 3850 then fine otherwise buy this.

Hmm, what do you guys think the performance difference would be between the 2? the 3850 should be better as long as vram usage doesnt surpass 256 correct?

It maybe "slightly" faster but 512MB>>>>>>>>>>>256MB.And the 2900XT handily beats the HD3850 and i remember that that this card was not too behind the 2900XT.

Actually,HD 3850 isn't much worsethan theHD 2900XT.

http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3151&p=7 So it should perform around the level of the HD 2900Pro at lower resolutions, but at higher res the HD 2900Pro would have the edge.

Overall i really dont think that we have any contest here. The 2900pro is actually $10 cheaper than the cheapest 3870 and it's always nice to have the luxury to pum up the AA.I dont know why people count more VRAM with better resolutions only but it also helps with some AA.And you also can pump the texture settings to max.

Stock the Hd3850 is compared to Nvidia 8800GTS 312mb, I got the HD3850 for about 160 US dollars, (1400Swe kr)

This card rock, Oc is good allover a very good midprice card who play among the elite of cards 3times the price.
