Decided to download their free beta to see if it looks any good. Installing right now. Anybody else out there give this game a shot? How does it compare with Guild Wars or WOW?
Being in the beta since last August I can tell you are going to see a lot of similarities to World of Warcraft. Personally I found it more of the same generic MMO stuff we've been seeing for years just with a Middle Earth facade.
Been playing in the closed beta for a bit Eh its fun and all but there is no other side to the game you have to be good and help the fellowship or what not which kinda sucks...if you could be an orc or what not it would be fun... Also it is a lot like wow but there is more to do and see the world seems a lot larger then wow IMO. but if you like MMoRpg i say try it out... The game i have to say for an MMORPG does have really nice graphics
I'm not an MMoer but I found it rather dull and boring. It seemed to me like it was basically just like every other MMO out there, but with a LOTR setting.

He is completely correct, as a hardcore WoW player since release (I quit at expansion and sold everything I had $$$), I can say upon logging in to LOTRO, you find a much more grittier and less artsy game than WoW. The devs are going with what works, and if executed right this game will attract people.
I was in the Beta as well the only thing I really truely loved was being a Warg in Monster play I didnt enjoy it too much but Monster play was the only reason I played it for a good few months.
