Hey, as the topic title says, is there by chance any way a Nvidia 8800 (GT, GTS etc.) can fit into just one PCI-e slot? I have been getting told stories that they are too big to fit it in just one PCI-e slot, but than others are telling me you can. So is there really a way around it? Someone at my school said he was running SLI with just one PCI-e slot which made no sense to me. So yea any help would be appreciated! 8)

In short NO.
Get a ATI HD 3850 instead. clocks great, so its almost as quick & yet its cooler, quiter & les power draw.
You can fit an 8800GT in there, but not a GTS since it takes two slots. Beware though, the GT needs some serious cooling, coz the cooler it has on it ain't so efficient.
Exactly. I was kind of confused what the OP is talking about. Is he talking if it requires 2 PCI-E interfaces, or if it requires two case slots? Regardless, you covered it.
All 8800 Series cards require ONE PCI-E slot, but the fan/heatsink unit is extended so the card itself takes up the board space of about 2 slots. Most likely, if you have a non- SLI board you'll just cover a PCI slot, of which you should have a few and one to spare. But either way, the 8800 GT is a slim card, and only takes up one slot and would be the best way to go right now for overall price/performance.
