My dad bought a comp w/ AOE2 on it, and I loved it. Then, I got AOE3 and the Warchiefs expansion a few years later. AOE3 is one of the best RTS games ever made! How come I never hear very much about it and barely know anyone who plays it? Does anyone here normally play it?
Even though i felt it wasn't really AoE, i liked the game when I played it. Stopped though b/c comp got worse for awhile (I think virus's and just other problems like drivers, our router, etc). Didn't get to play the expansions besides a demo. When/if I upgrade my comp I might think of picking them up.
Its pretty much a standard RTS though. but its still fun. Couple things I don't like about it
I'm actually enjoying AOE3 more than other games like Dawn Of War, Company Of Heroes, Command And Conquer 3, etc. It's either really under-rated, or it just really jives with my RTS criterium. :/ ? Go figure.
My best friend plays AOE3 online religiously and is one of the top 100 players in the world. I watch him play some online games, and it looks like a lot of fun, but i suck.
AOE was the first RTS i ever played, and I've got every one ever since. Of course I'm a fan! Probably only because it's a classic series - compare it with newer games, and it looks kinda bad...
I love the graphics on the environments and the physics engine for the third one.
I can't wait for 4 and 5!!!!!!!! They already are planning them and 4 will be modern and 5 will be in the future. I think they will be perfected by then and have great graphics, RTSs already have good graphics because you are zoomed out
