Apple is now bigger than Microsoft?
I feel old.

They deserve it, although they act like smug idiots they make AMAZING products! iPod touch, iPad, MacOS.
I dont even own any Apple products but I can easily see how much care goes into each product.
Microsoft have a habit of just looking at the market and then just releasing some generic **** and putting the Microsfto loge on it. Lately they have been doing better with the Xbox 360, Windows 7 and Windows Mobile 7, lets hope they keep it up.
Anyway keep it up Apple, I hope to buy one of your laptops one day.

Apple is still going through puberty, that's why they are playing ball with the court like Microsoft did back then.

Apple and Microsoft are about the same age.
Not really, Apple didn't function as it should until Steve revived it. Besides I was talking about the elitist attitude of Apple that needs cooling down, such behavior always attracts legal attention.
I fail to see why Apple is so popular. If their products had any innovation, it would be one thing, but their tech often lags behind. I guess people just love their interfaces.psychobrewexactly. apple is all about interfaces and marketing. the ipod is the only thing that noone has beaten yet but all the other apple products are alll downgraded prettier versions of better things.

Have you ever held an Ipod touch or Apple laptop? Have you ever felt an Apple computer magnetically suck USB cables into their sockets? Apple deliver a complete experience that few companies can compare to.

I held a ipod touch, ipad, and many mac laptops. They have great systems. Personally though, I feel they play on peoples faith. I've been around apple since the early 90's. I use to actually go to weekly M.U.G. meetings. Then the company went into a completely different direction. They spread the business and moved away from a consumer base company. Mac laptops became a overpriced "friendlier" version of itself. They shaded themselves with mac lovers who did not care that they were being used as a tool and not as a friend. Now I look at mac users and noticed how things have changed. For the sake of "friendliest", they have lost that connection of company and end users. They killed off all the M.U.G. communities. The computer systems slowly went to Intel base chips but after changing, they increased prices. Most assumed the prices were higher because of the hardware they used back in the day and for sake of staying a "closed" system. You now learn they are just a money hungry corporation and know they have enough fans that they can charge 2-3X the amount of money compared to other companies with same hardware. In there attempt of staying a closed hardware and software company, they are attempting to force users to accept there practices such as lack of flash missing out of the Ipad. For as great as a company they have become, that connection lost from many of those earlier mac users is something that will be a fixture in the genealogy of the Apple company.

It was just like any other laptop, except it was a pain in the neck to set up wireless network connectivity and the browser did not want maximize even though I kept hitting the maximize button.

Wait what!? there are several better alternatives to every ipod except for the touch.
The young masses likes new stuff that they can call their own for their generation and it happens to be ipod/iphone. Its not exactly innovating, but taking stuff that already exist with marketing flare and spur of the moment took some luck and great timing. Tadah! Besides lotta hawt lookin babes use em only the knowledgeable dudes use windows.
Microsoft is getting kind of dated with all their generic stuff imo, but they are pretty stable though with all the OS stuff, they are just taking safest route possible.

Which may be the case for a product or two from Apple, but I fail to see the usefulness of a Mac laptop. My wife (about 1.5 years back now) acquired one of the brand new Mac Book Pros (was the top of the line they had out, cost over $3K).....
The thing ran like crap compared to my desktop that I put maybe $900 into. It was slower, always locks up on her and it's a complete pain in the ass to use (for me at least). Apple told her (after looking at the computer) that it was running like it should. She still loves it....I guess that's what really matters.
I've also had 2 iPods that have crapped out on me - two 60GB (both cost about $300 at the time). The first one I bought for myself, the second was a gift after the first one failed. They both lasted about 14 months (give or take a month), which inciedentally, they only have a 1 year warranty on them. Apple was willing to replace the bad hard drives, but wanted to charge me over $200.
I'm not impressed by Apple products, they've failed on me too much and are more flash than substance in my opinion. Not worth my time or money anymore. To those that enjoy Apple items and haven't had issues, well....congratulations.
not like apple doesn't do that either. mac os is not nearly as reliable as it used to be. runs much slower in favor of features. It is a great os but nothing special like it used to be and win7 has all those features that used to set osx and windows apart. Ipod touch and iphone are awesome though, but dam expensive for what they are. They deserve it, although they act like smug idiots they make AMAZING products! iPod touch, iPad, MacOS.

Apple laptops are nice but not their keyboards are any mac keyboard of that matter, pretty, but poor ergonomics. Ipod touch/iphone are the only awesome apple device, their computers are overpriced and under powered, but laptops do look nice.

I believe its a magnetic power cable actually.
I think they are the worst offender when it comes to planned redundancy though, its an absolute insult.

Is it really that hard to slide the usb cable in manually? What a gimmick, but hey, if that's a feature you're willing to pay thousands of dollars for then more power to you. Does it do the same with firewire?
