I'm replacing the stock cooler of my 965 which is deafening at 6000RPM with the Hyper 212+. How do you apply the TIM? A small pea shape on the CPU? A line of TIM along the aluminium pipes of the heatsink? Both? I'm using the included TIM, but looking on Arctic Silver's website they recommend a pea size blob. Advice?

For HDT coolers, I used the following procedure:

- Put a tinybit of thermal paste on the silver bars between the heatpipes.

- Spread the thermal paste across the heatpipes to fill in the crevices between them and the metal bars. Remove any excess off the heatsink

- Use the pea method, or whatever method you use for a normal heatsink, on the processor and install the heatsink.

Seems to work well for me.

I'll follow the manual. Slop a bit of paste on top of the CPU, and then attach the cooler.

what i did with my hyper 212 is on teh CPU i put a small pea size X shape with he paste that came with the hyper 212. then i slap on the hyper 212 to my CPU and it works fine. for me i dont see the reason to use the spead mentiod ( when you get a card or something and smooth out the paste to a paper thin) my temps on my CPU on idle is 25*C-28*C under load is 38*C
