apu combined with another decent GPU

so if i combine an amd 8 series apu with an hd radeon 6770 will that be beniffical or not worth it?

I think they only combine up to the x6xx series so the 6770 would be out of the question.

All depends on what you need it for , your on GAMESPOT so assume its for gaming i won't go for it as there are better options available in the price range .

if you mention how much you wanna spend would help in recemonding you whats your best option !!

What are you keeping from your old rig, what are you replacing, what is it for, what resolution will it be at and what budget do you have?

and a good cheap case that cools well i need some oppinion on that all together my price range is around 550-700

yeah for 300 for jsut a cpu and gpu in an amd environment you can do much intel your gpu would suffer noticeably

if you wanna go with AMD go for the PHenom II x4 955be has great ovelclocking capability and choose from gtx 460 , radeon hd 6850 or radeon hd 6870 .

the 460 and 6850 have almost the same performance the 6870 beats both in performance .

yeah the a8 can crossfire but i dont know with which cards :/

when you update the drivers for the a8 specifically the range of cards it updates its quite large...

best go to the amd forum

For that budget I would definitely aim for a CPU and discreet GPU.

If you were shooting for a home theater PC at a lower budget, then I might recommend an APU. But otherwise, no.

You should eb able to build a decent AMD based build for that kind of money. Another $100 and I'd say go sandy bridge 2500k + GTX 560 Ti.
