After seeing the news on gamespot about Aquaria getting some award as top indie game of the year, I downloaded the demo, and eventually got the full version of the game.

This game really is amazing. I played 2d scrolling games as a kid like Sonic the Hedgehog and Ecco the Dolphin, so I might be biased by the nostalgia, but this game has completely astounded me. The puzzles in this game are very interesting and rewarding to figure out, and the way each of the forms is used is really interesting (there are 7 forms, I believe, that you eventually discover). Early on I thought that you would be primarily using the energy form (the one you can shoot with) throughout the game, but while it is used quite a bit, most of the other forms are used extensively in interesting ways as well.

I'm not normally one to plug a game, but I definitely have to give this game my highest recommendation. This game has really amazing graphics (in the context of a 2d scroller), and is just amazingly fun to play. The enormous size of the world and amount of stuff to do definitely makes it worth the $30.

The most amazing part, in my mind, is that this game was made by only two people. It really shows what can be done by someone with a passion. Check it out!

I want to try it out, but paying that much money for an indie game in 2D just feels wrong to me...

Yeah, I tried the demo too. It's a really beautiful game, it's fun to play and it actually has an interesting and well presented story. A lot of professional game companies who sell millions of units could learn a hell of a lot from those amateurs.

Why? Surely what matters is whether or not the game is fun? not what technology it uses. And why does the fact that it is an indie game put you off? I dont care if a game cost 10 million dollars and was made by EA, it can still be **** I spent mroe time playing Tower of Goo than i did playing supreme commander 9which was **** IMHO). Don't be kidded into thinking that indie games should be cheap or inferior, often they are the best games out.

have you played Darwinia? or maybe tried Democracy? That game is awesome (run the country startegy game), and they just released a sequel which looks way nicer. here it is -> (www.democracrygame.com). try that.

Nah, I'm not saying that indie games are inferior to blockbusters, but I heard that this game costs 30 $. A bit steep imo, if it's made by two guys. I'm all for supporting the smaller dev-companies, but 30 bucks? I think I'll wait. And I'll check out democracy, not sure if I'll like it, not a big fan of strategy games.
