Yeah, Gamershell is working.
Too many games! Halo: Reach, F1 2010, FFXIV, and this. Ah well. I'll download the demo at least :D

How dare you forget Civilization 5!!!!! 8)
As for the demo, it ran nice but it was not very fun at all, dissapointed to be honest.
Ill still get the game and give ti a chance as RPGS are my fav genre, but this just doesnt feel like Gothic/Risen to me, the new developers didnt do that great of a job baed off the demo.
Finished it. I'll give it a thumbs up.
Visually, it's pretty good..nothing spectacular. Runs pretty well too.
Combat is fun, though way too easy. I don't think I dropped below 90% health the entire demo. Guess it's meant to be played on the highest difficulty, which isn't available in the demo.
My only major complaint coming away from the demo is that the voice acting is pretty bad in spots (annoying things like actors not being aware of the context of a line, and getting the pitch wrong.) The voice work overall is okay though.
"The program can't start because X3DAudio1_7.dll is missing from your computer." D=
Edit: Dl'd a second time and it works... A file probably got corrupted =/
Edit 2: The game is fun, but on the easy side. Some of the voice actors are ok, but there are a few among the worst I've ever heard (I.E. the witch in the forest...).
I have 2 and 3 on my Steam account, but I haven't had time to play them. I'll put this game on my watch list, and try the demo next week.
My first impressions are as follows. Briefly.
Positives: The game world looks good. The graphics are sharp and the demo runs very smoothly.
Negatives: It's far too easy on normal; remember how the other Gothic games were very challenging at the start (Risen was too)? Not the case here. At level one, you can kill multiple goblins without hardly taking any damage. At level three, I was taking on multiple wolves without receiving hardly any damage. It's not that fun if there's no sense of challenge. Another thing I didn't like is that you can't go just anywhere (at least in the demo). I tried to enter bodies of water, but there are barriers on all of them. I might expect that, trying to enter ocean expanses or something, but I couldn't even wade across a small pond.
I'm still undecided as to whether or not I want to purchase the entire game.
I just tried it and the performance was not that bad but I am not sure the graphics warrant the stress it dishes out.
Also like the poster before said, the jagged lines are a bit annoying.
The weirdest part is the mouths of characters when they speak. It looks funky and very off.
Too easy!? Ugh there is nothing that puts me off a game more to be honest. Aside from major problems such as serious bug and performance issues.
Was always a little iffy on this one onceI heard it's from a different development team this time around. I hate when games are way too easy. They are oh so boring. No sense of danger or caution -no excitement. It will get old fast.
I'm gonna guess it will get between 6.5 - 7.
That's how I feel as well. I get an average of 45-65 FPS, the 45 coming into play while in town. I like you wonder if it warrants the stress. I really do not think it does. It looks good, but not THAT good. Then when I went into the caves it stayed the exact same, which other games likes this usually get a nice boost when in doors. So yea they do have some coding issues, but it is much better that Gothic 3 was at the start :P. Anyways this was a nice little surprise for me. I was not expecting much at all, but I got a nice little treat.I just tried it and the performance was not that bad but I am not sure the graphics warrant the stress it dishes out.Hakkai007
Yeah I agree with those saying its way to easy.
The Gothic series has always been challening and tough at the begining. Have to get your character up to fight alot of stuff, but in this demo it feels more like Fable then it does Gothic or Risen imo.
nice graphics, good performance, but I get a Meh feeling frmo it after playing it, instead of being addicted and pulled into the game like Gothic1-3 and Risen did.
So I installed the game after a slow download and turned up all the visuals to max that weren't maxed out already such as particle effects and shadows and ran the game.
I was greeted by a homely looking tomboy that seems to be the player character's love interest. Most WRPG devs still haven't worked out fluid animation or lip synching yet so the camera shows the conversation taking place with the usual face to face dialogue with shoulder jerks and hand waving. Not much dialogue options either. One annoying little gripe is when you run out of things to say you have to hit END dialogue optionto end the dialogue.
Graphics wise, the game looks pretty. Looks like an old colony in the mediterranean and the sound effects are great. The music is soft and the sound of waves crashing on the shore, gulls crying in the background can be heard. There are rocky cliffs all around, a beautiful sky and a vast ocean with a large ship sailing off in the distance.
The village is pleasing to look at to with a smith's shop, various farms and a meeting hall. Pretty good detail went into everything as people go about their business, there are steps carved into slopes...everything a little village should have.
The voice acting is hit and miss...mostly misshowever as some characters have terrible dialogue and voice acting. The witch takes the cake as the most horrid voice actor in this demo.Once again a common feature in these games.
Quests so far have been kill this, gather that, talk to this person. It's a tutorial but it plays it too safe. These kind of quests aren't the reason people like the Gothic games, they like quests that can be done numerous ways or that have short cuts if you talk to different people. these are terrible quests to showcase in a demo because they are so mundane that it's off putting.
People don't seem to care if you borrow stuff from them which is different from previous Gothic games. I've walked into every home and acquired items out of chests and off shelves while the homeowner watches.
Combat is more fluid and a lot more easy. No getting my ass kicked by a tusked mammal right away. Infact I was able to kill about 5-6 goblins only getting hit once. This is totally different from the previous Gothics and even Risen. I once again picked a bow as my main weapon and head shots are pretty good now, doing far more damage than a shot to the arm. Later on in the demo I ran into minecrawlers and a golem and was able to kick their asses WAAAAAY too easily. It's kind ofa let down running into creatures that in Gothic 1-3 you'd have to be weary of and try your best and now you can just walk up to them, hang out with a group of them and kill them when you want.
The game gives some nice items in the end and i hope it's just demo crap. If they seriously give you magic weapons and plate armor right off the bat then i'm revoking this game's right to call itself a Gothic game.
Leveling up and assinging skills seems to be easier and it went kind of like the Divinity 2/Mass Effect/ 30% of WRPG's way of leveling a character. There's only a few skills and you just keep increasing the levels netting you bonuses perksafter a while
Lows:
-Voice Acting. The smith and the Witch are painful to listen to.
-Easyness. The poster that said its as easy as Fable is spot on. There were about 50 potions given in the demo and you seriously would have to run up to 3-4 goblins and then leave the game unpaused while you make yourself lunch, to die.
- Tutorial Quests - The most basic of quests were offered here and the tutorial was so linear. I find it funny to release a demo that doesn't showcase what the best parts of the series are.
Highs:
-Sound Effects: especially the waterfall on the cave. It sounded really impressive.
- Graphics: The game is smooth and it looks pretty.
For some resaon the demo won't even start for me. I've downloaded it from multiple places too and no luck. :(
This is a beautiful game. The lighting and texture work is really amazing. That said the dialogue is tedius and painful, and it does feel pretty low budget. The jump seems a bit floaty as well, he just hangs in the air a bit. The characters look alright but nothing special, at least it looks better than vanilla Oblivion does. It is also pretty easy, I got into it not playing any of the previous games and I pretty much just killed everything with little damage to me. To me it looks like a fun game and something to be cautiously optimistic about, but I don't expect it to score higher than an 8.
Am I the only one who thinks it was amazing for a demo? I have to admit I almost never play demos but I had to try this. In the past for me demos are usually short and not very interesting. This demo made me want the game real bad, I love the graphics, gameplay, look of the game. It's got a bit of oldschool charm to it which i love. And I think the voice acting is great :D
Anyways it's a demo. I'm willing to bet the difficulty will be ramped up alot in the release. Maybe not as tough as previous Gothic titles but enough. Gotta remember this is a demo :) I'm impressed all in all, it runs really smoothly aswell. Great! Can't wait! Instant purchase
Never played a Gothic game but I'll check this out, though I've been dling a lot of demos recently. Are they making a come back?! I have played Risen though but never finished it. I assume the mechanics are the same if not similar?spiderman120988If you played risen, you played gothic. They are the same, this one? Not so much more like gothic 3. I played the demo briefly all i can say know that i can max it out with crazy fps :) but the graphics are hardly a bit better than gothic 3. I will play it further and comment back.

I hate the visual route Gothic game have Taken since gothic 3.
It looks like i'm playing a Conan game. when before it felt more like medieval game
So is the combat better than in Gothic 3. In Demon's Souls you can wield many different weapons in any configuration and each configuration has it's animations and combos, will gothic have anything even close to this or will it be extremely repetitive like in gothic 3/risen.rabakillThe animations are better than Gothic 3 which makes the character look much more skillfull with a weapon. In the older gothic games your guy just stiffly swings a weapon in someone's direction. I've only tried the axe, hammer and bow and they all look good in action. Headshots with bows cause more damage but don't do instant kills.
Looks like if enough of us don't buy this game the publisher may go belly up:
• Losses amounting to half the share capital likely in Q2 financial statements
• Managing board to call extraordinary shareholders' meeting
• Drawing up of Q2 financials taking longer than expected

I just remember Gothic 3 had such ridiculously repetitive combat. Same as Risen. If the core game mechanic is combat the combat better be atleast decent, I am not spending money on this game unless it is vastly superior to Gothic 3.Someone earlier kind of complained about the way they went with the game saying it was like Fable as it pertains to combat or something. Well I think Fable series has sold fairly well so I don't think the people that made the new Gothic will complain if it is compared to that.

If this game was supposed to be their saving grace then they should have tried a lot harder to make it much more polished. :/
