I tried to play it twice. The first time I didn't get very far, I got tired pretty fast.
The second time i played the game I got pretty far, I think. Anyway, it got really boring, most of the stuff you could get through the tech/magick tree seemed useless and the fights were really dull. Also, the graphics sometimes made me physically sick, I mean I love the Fallout and Baldurs Gate graphics, but this game was really, really ugly.Â
Oh no, Arcanum has many fans. I am a huge fan of games with a melancoly mood and Arcanum was full of themes of regret and redemption. I grow kind of tired of the "Kill the EVIL people" theme, which tends to grow out of games and movies with poor character developement. Many games have hit on the steampunk concept, but Arcanum is one of the most successful with it in my opinion.
Well, its been said a few times before, but The Fallout series is surprisingly similar. You can find both of them wrapped together, and they both run on Windows XP. Fallout has a 1950s scifi motif, and it is full of factions with the kind of conflicts of that you find of Arcanum. Planescape is an even better game, but I dont think it runs on XP.

Good concept but poor refinement. The gamplay needed some tweaking and there were some serious issues with class balance, combat, and the way xp was handled. I still liked it though.bogaty

I agree. Interesting Concept...but boy the game had a terrible combat system...really ugly as well....
I am playing Baldur's Gate 2 at the moment...and it is just sooo much better in terms of polishing.
A great game.I had to change my graphics card in order to play it(imagine how crappy tha old one was, hahaha)
