No multiplayer game is free, someone is paying for that low ping server you're playing on.

But if I buy Gears of War for windows would that be free? Because I heard those kinds of games (published by windows) became free since no one payed to play

i believe windows live is free now. not 100% sure about that, since i never use that crap.

i believe windows live is free now. not 100% sure about that, since i never use that crap.JnWycliffe
playing with a regular PC server browser setup, windows live has always been free on the PC. they locked out matchmaking and online achievements for paying customers, and they just wiped all those fees out a few months ago too.

Yes, game for Windows are free now. You can get achievements online from now on.

world of warcraft isn't free you have to pay a 15 fee every month.all the other games u have to pay money for then but after u buy then no charges.

That's true in part, but there ARE other MMO's that have monthly subscription fees. I remember how Guildwars boasted on their covers about having 'No Monthly Fees,' and that was really the first major MMO that I knew of that was free to play once you bought it, and entirely online.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I'm pretty sure there are more than one MMORPG that have monthly subscriptions.

All MMOs that aren't completely free will require a monthly fee to help pay for their servers. Guild Wars isn't an MMORPG because they only host the lobbies and everything else is sort of player run (similar to Diablo 2).
