Core2duo Mobile series 2ghz, 2Gigs RAM, Moblie 7900GS, 200gig HDD
ETC ETC.
hmmm i see a lot of people write "Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz" as a recommended CPU for many games but I'm wondering, does it make a difference as long as its 2.0GHz? Isnt an AMD Athlon X2 2.0GHZ just as good as a Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz?

No. Clock speeds don't mean everything. C2duo is better even at slower clock speeds to an equivelant athlon.
people always tell me AMD is better than intel when it comes to gaming, but intel is better for other areas.Zero5000X
A year or two ago yes but not anymore.
Also I can't see any reason why gaming on a laptop would hurt it. Beyond possible heat issues I don't see how legit software could damage your hardware. Just make sure you game with the laptop on a hard flat surface like a desk or table not your lap so it cools well.
first of all, if youre going to get a TRUE gaming laptop, it will not be mobile. im talkin 17-19" screens, and the battery power to just get that alone will only last you about 2hours, even if youre just surfing the web. so for a gaming laptop, mobility is out of the question. they are meant to go from outlet to outlet, so i guess theyre like "semi-mobile".
secondly, many gaming laptops are just as powerful, if not more, than some desktops out there. my gaming laptops blows most of my friends desktops out of the water, and thats with a 2.0ghz turion, 1gb of ram, and 2x7900gs's in sli. those specs arent even that great, i should have gotten the 2.4ghz and 2gb of ram, but it still runs better than thier desktops. now granted, theyre running like 6600s or ati's (meh) but still.
and to answer your question, games will not hurt a laptop in any way.
