I own a Creative Fatal1ty Mk. 2 headset (the $70 one). Well, today, I was drinking water, and a few drops of it dropped onto my headset, with one huge drop dropping on the left side, right onto the opening where the cable can connect to the computer. Can there possible be any problems in the long run, or right now? I'm afraid that the water got through into the headset. Help please :D

And maybe its just me, but the sound seems to be softer, is this because of the water? I'm also wondering if the water can degrade the headset's sound quality.

Best thing to do when something electrical gets wet is to unplug it / take batteries out asap and leave it overnight to dry out. The can disrupt the current flow and cause short circuits, especially on circuit boards. Either way i say just leave it good while to dry before plugging it in again, otherwise it may damage it.

As long as you let it dry before using them I don't see how they could sound different. Its just water. It will dry up. I have heard of iPods falling into toilets and working after they have been dried out. If they stop working get yourself some real headphones. Running Sennheiser HD595 here. Check out sennheiser HD550 for a cheaper option.

These are real headphones. Well, I guess I'll just take them back to Fry's and get an exchange, lol.
