I know obviously they are not the BEST tvs, but they don't cost much. Walmart has them REALLY cheap, but not only do i not know much about HDTV but I'm not sure which ones are good. I live in an apartment so i dont want anything too expensive right now, or anything too too big.

Here is the website

personally i wouldnt trust any of those brands except maybe the samsungs or the panasonics. i've actually heard that the reason wal mart sells electronics for so cheap is because walmart asks companies to make cheaper versions of other models to be sold only in walmarts.

i'd say an HDTV is a pretty long term investment. you get what you pay for.

Many TVs and other electronics at WalMart are crippled, severely encheapened versions of what you'd buy at Circuit City or a best buy in order to meet WM's "always low prices", so make sure what you're buying is an identical model # to what you were looking at elsewhere (or reading a review of). I really really would recommend even against a lot of name brand stuff at a WalMart.

They aren't the best, but they aren't as horrid as some people paint them to be.  They do use different model numbers because they do have some different parts or some of the bigger manufactures have outsourced their production to make them cheaper.  My brother bought his 32" Vizio from Walmart and it's fine.  I've got a 28" CRT Sanyo from there too, and it's fine.  But they won't be top of the line, so if you want the best look somewhere else.

Virtually all TVs are "outsourced", except the highest end stuff that's still made in Japan. They make they cheaper by replacing good parts with crap parts, since they want to maintain the same margins

agreed, also, if your going to buy like a 36" or below tube tv, thats fine. walmart does have some good ones, but like i said before, a large or flat panel HDTV should be an expensive long term investment (something that you shouldnt buy from walmart).

Ok here are the brands to trust when buyin an HDTV, in order of which ones are the best

1. Sony, it just rules all

2. Toshiba, affordable and excellent quality

3.  Samsung, great picture

some people go with panasonic, sharp, etc.  Personally, working at a audio/video store, I can tell you these brands just dont hold up or perform nearly as nicely as the top 3 stated.

I don't want to sound hostile, but isn't that just your opinion and/or opinions of people you know? Personally, I think Pioneer and Panasonic make very very good HDTV's also.

Edit: typo

OK, Ill put it this way.  At one time last year we ordered 4 panasonic tv's.  Everyone of those tv's broke in the first week, and were returned.  What I'm trying to say is that if u want a reliable tv buy either a sony(which are the best) a toshiba, or a samsung.  If it was my money, I wouldnt spend it on anything from walmart, no.
